Lightbulb Good Bye To Fu*#!ng Firewall!!!! - August 28th, 2002, 02:59 PM

Hey, folks! Are you befind a firewall or proxy server that doesn't allow you to use file sharing apps? Well, here is a solution for you. Download a tunnel program called HttPort3.

http://www.htthost.com/

This program can let you bypass annoying a firewall and/or proxy server. Just make sure you read their instruction and FNQ's and use it properly, and I guarantee you that this really works.

The only problem is that this program can be used only with apps that are able to use Socks4. So, programs like KaZaa may not work. I have tried with WinMX and eDonkey, and they both work fine as they support Socks4.

Happy sharing, everyone :)

If you register, they can give you a faster connection, plus if your proxy supports SSL/CONNECT, you don't need to register and yet get a fast connection. You can say whatever you want, but I am the living evidence. I am using eDonkey with HttPort3 unregistered, and I am downloading movies at over 60 kb/sec. I even got a 700 MB movie file in 5 to 6 hours. Now, you tell me this is not worth a try.
P.S. you probably need to learn how to talk to people.

For the love of God someone help me!
I've been breaking my back trying to get Kazaa to work through my firewall. I know very little about computers and I think I need someone to walk me through the process of setting up a P2P connection.
If you can help me, please, please, please e-mail me, or contact me through AIM.
Thank you.:fire

Hey. KaZaa supports SOCKS5 but not SOCKS4, so you can't use HttPort3 to for KaZaa. You could try to find a tunnel program that uses SOCKS5, but I would just switch to a program such as eDonkey and WinMX and go with HttPort3. Why waste time when you have something that works for sure? Besides, KaZaa sucks anyway.

Sorry, but I had to mention this. My download speed reached over 80kb/sec nearly 90. I wonder what kind of idiot called HttPort3 slow and useless. It's such a great program.

@electricpenis... If ya use socks2HTTP you can use KaZaA from behind a firewall, if you use sockscap32 with it.. you can use apps that don't even have socks-compatibility in 'em.

Anyway.. both progs are good. But I'm really suprised that someones getting 80k/s with HTTPort, I mean REALLY suprised, Ima DL this latest version and see what it's upto. bbl...

First of all, HTTPort does not require you to enter the "Host name or IP address" & "Port" each time you initiate connection because once you entered them, they remain there recorded. All you have to do is load run the program and hit "start". If you are wanting to use file sharing apps from behind a firewall, all you need to do is "find a host name or IP address along with port that your computer uses" and "let HTTPort do the work from there." I don't see how difficult or annoying this simple process can be. Finding out IP address isn't hard at all either (for those of you that don't know how). You can detect with command line while you download a file from somewhere (more details are on HTTPort website). Oh, and, I'm sorry to surprise you even more, but I'm afraid my eDonkey reached over 90kb/sec once (though only once) since the last post. Anyways, all I wanted to do was to help people out there that are suffering from firewalls or proxy servers like I was. If my act bothers your egoism, satisfy it by means of making your own post with better info to help them.

If you want to download from 100 different sources do you not have to reconfigure HTTPort for each one any more??

HTTPort is good (especially with SSL-Connect from the sounds of things). Socks2HTTP and Sockscap are good alternates too and don't require any config changes for adding new remote addys (and work with Socks5). Just thought I'd point out another good alternative. (see the post i made ages ago for more info, it's in this 'connecting' section of the zp forums) ;)

To Method

I don't mean to insult you, but your question is so damn... Please visit HttPort's website and understand how it works before you post a question like that.

To Jorge.

I visited the back to school page, and it had a pretty good explanation about firewalls already. I don't mind adding some more info such as how exactly you are bypassing the firewalls, but I see you added links to HttPort website, which has good support sources for that kind of info, so I don't think it's really necessary. If you want me to, please yell at me, and I'll be glad to be your help.

GT.. I see ya point, if the software itself can run through a Socks4 proxy.. it's no problem at all. Shame they don't seem too bothered about Socks5 support tho. and all those apps that don't support socks at all. - but i understand! ;)

Take a look at HttPort help that comes with the installer, which should be in HttPort file (usually, c\programs\HttPort). That has some good info. Also, their website provides Q&A for HttPort.

P.S. For all of you that ask for instant help without making your own effort, please try to find the answer to your question before you ask in forums. Most answers are out there on the internet or even in front of you. You just need to open your eyes. This should also help servers that support forums by not wasting their web space.

Exclamation Proxy - September 10th, 2002, 02:05 PM

Yes, i do read all the help files and online Faqs but it does not give me any good proxies. it gives u sites, info where to find them, but lets say multiproxy.org - the most common. there are a lot of proxies and 99 % does not work. the 1 % that work are extremely slow. that's why a few days ago I requested via a post someone to give me a proxy that they use so i can put it into a tunneling program. interestingly, NOBODY bothered to reply to my post and nobody whants to share a proxy with me ? !! Is that such a big deal? I mean, i need some help and have been trying those proxies for quite some hours - unsuccessfuly. I posted a thread and nobody replied me. So it is not that if someone is asking a 'simple" question or request he/she is trying to load the forums with junk, but we need some help.
