spybot and adaware - June 16th, 2004, 07:32 AM

sup guys

couple of questions

I use browserpal pop up blocker, and spybot detects it as spyware. Is this a legit claim or a false positive.

My other question is that spybot and adaware say that they move threats from my computer but say if I go an hour and do another scan. They are still there. I did the updates on my computer and still the same thing, Any idea whats up with this, and if there are other spyware programs that can do the job

Some pests cant be removed from your system while windows is running. Try setting adaware to run at your next reboot and see if that cleans them up.

Spybot is about the only honest anti-spyware/adware/malware program in existance today. If it finds something and labels it "spyware", then it would be adviseable to remove it.

In other words, yes, it is completely legitimate. Often these companies will use the cover of a seemingly friendly popup blocker or the like to do very unfriendly things. I find it ironic and frustrating that these companies have recognised that people don't want to be spyed on, and come to the conclusion that hiding spyware in anti-spyware devices is the only way.
