Wow i download a full album it was .wma i thought those typeof files sucked,i burned them as wma and they burned great and fast and no errors that i get with mp3 files.any one know of a converter from wma to ogg

thx alot this program really does the job and its free now you cant beat that.But i am making them into ogg now.Is ogg files any good? i am making them at cd quality.192.but 64 bitrate is the same but smaller size
im sticking to ogg hehe.

ogg files are great, better than mp3. They have a better compression ratio, so you can encode at lower bitrates and still get good quality, and they take up less space. Ogg is a variable bitrate encoder. something like 112 is cd quality, i encode them at an average br of 160, qual. 5.

Just thought I would mention that the new Blindwrite will burn ogg, wma as well as mp3 and wav to cd audio. so if you want to burn a audio cd to play in your car or whatever...

it is shareware but it has a 90 day trial use and no limitations as well as they always have a new version out by 90 days and you can re-download. Or buy it..or umm find a serial number.

i made the bitrate of the ogg 64 and its awsome quality and small sound this is cool,any one know if nero burns ogg files? i hav 5.5 nero. And hey i found a key gen

nero will burn ogg files as data.
so use data cd mode.

if you want to make a cd audio format, try blindwrite.

not wise to convert from one compression to another. You loose sounf quality. It would be better to just keep it the way it is. Convert your cds to ogg. That way, we have real ogg files out there spreading and not re compressed songs.

Yep, thats the best way to have ogg's. You lose quality and data when reencoding from mp3.

keep in mind that 64kbs is about quality 0 on a scale of 0 - 10. vorbis doesn't make outrageous claims such as "64kbs is cd-quality", it's just generally assumed (and rightly so) that quality 3 is comparable and in most cases exceeds the quality of a modern 128kbs mp3. and i quote from the vorbis website.

Most people seeking very-near-CD-quality audio encode at a quality of 5 or, for lossless stereo coupling, 6. The default setting is quality 3, which at approximately 110kbps gives a smaller filesize and significantly better fidelity than .mp3 compression at 128kbps.

if you want surprisingly good quality at low bitrates, you should consider mp3pro. mp3pro VBR quality-33 (atleast in MMJB) is around 64kbs and is quite good if you really want to push the low bitrate envelope. which brings us to the real question, how does this relate to cover art?

Yeah, I've heard that mp3pro is good, but I still like Ogg better because it's open source and has a much cooler name.
