Of all the P2P systems currently available, do you consider Direct Connect to be the most powerfull ?
DC is a very powerfull application, which allows it's users to set up public or private trading hubs on the internet. It's an excellent program for people who like to download full albums for example, because DC allows retrieving entire directories. So you have a choice between taking single files or the entire folder. Furthermore, DC keeps getting bigger and getting new net users every day ! I think this system will still remain polpular for a long time within all the file sharing solutions. DC is also a very usefull tool for people who work on a network or for students. It doesn't only concern pirates !

Do you have an idea on how many hubs are open ? Which are the most important ones ?
It's simple, there are tens of thousands of hubs (public or private) that are active on the web today ! Every day new hubs arrive, allowing people to trade any types of files. Many of these hubs are specialised either in divx movies, or in music or in games. It's really like little clubs, and net users only need to find the one which suits them best.
Do you think DC can be an good alternative to Kazaa or eMule for a beginner ?
Given that DC has a completly different architecture, a certain time is needed to adapt. Personally, I wouldn't recommend DC to a beginner, even though with a little experience DC is actually pretty easy to use. It's most important to understand how it works before rushing on it and trying to downloading just anything.

By the way, which issue is this in ? Is it the most recent one ?
