I'd like to know how many of you would like a separate OverNet forum (If you don't know what OverNet is... Get it NOW!). I think it's time this awesome program got its own space separately from its clunkier older brother, eDonkey.

For the Fourth frickin time... Overnet is the new e-donkey verison and should just take over the e-donkey forum because the older e-donkey will not be actively developed..

If doesnt deserve its own space when it will eventually take over the e-donkey forum.. Beside its the SAME PROGRAM just different verisons with one a different name..

What's your problem with OverNet, Seph? For the fourth time you're wrong, and unlike you I can actually back up my argument. Allow me to quote the developer whom, with all due respect to you, should actually know what's going on:

7.31.02 - Many people are wondering what will happen with eDonkey2000 now that there is Overnet. The both networks will continue to exist separately from one another. Clear enough for you or should I up the font size a little? Also allow me to point out that Frost has its own forum, and Frost is way less functionally "ready" than OverNet (In fact the whole of Freenet is all but useless in its current development stage).

Now please stop this, quit interfering and let people decide for themselves; there is no need for powerplay here.

Back up well considering that your quote came from the edonkey website and not the overnet one and Registration will work with either program. Also i would like to point out that there isnt two forums for all the other programs that changed networks here either.

What it boils down it is weather do you want one active and popular edonkey/overnet forum or two less active spread out seperate forums that wont get as many posts as the one would but will make one person happy..

Since im one of the moderators and would have to deal with any new forums i think i should have my say because whatever is decided does affect me.

I agree with Sephiroth on this one romerick. It's just a new version of edonkey without central servers. But I do like it :) But it doesn't need a forum.

Once again eDonkey and Overnet are two DIFFERENT networks and are two DIFFERENT programs. Besides how will this forum directly affect you? It wont! You wont goto it so why do you not want it. Its like me saying "NO KAZAA FORUMS", because I know a newbie such as yourself uses regular KaZaA. I say MAKE THE FORUM! or you can be stupid like Sephiroth and evilmegaman...

I know the programs are different, but the current solution is to change the name of the forum to eDonkey2000/Overnet. Then if in the future it becomes flooded with posts, or Overnet becomes as popular as KaZaA, then there might be a need for a new forum. But in its current state, Overnet does not need a forum on its own. Since it requires the .NET SDK, there aren't a ton of people using Overnet right now. I'd say at least wait until it gets closer to a final release.

The forums affect me because im one of the moderators.. So i might not make a ton of posts there but im still responisble for what goes on..

Ive been pretty much agree on what TC75580 said.. Maybe i should hae pointed it out for the anklebiters here earyler.. When i say there isnt a need for a seperate forum i mean right now.. Maybe in the future if it becomes popular and it could survive on its own then yea maybe it could use its own forum.. But IMHO some people are jumping the gun here and are being a little too impatient.. Its still very new and will take probably a while to get the bugs out so its stable/useable and efficent enough for the average usuer and when .net is more accepted amoung users which now its not..

I've been using eDonkey and Overnet for a while now. Alot of the same files can be found on both networks, and Overnet has alot more content than I expected to find. eDonkey still has more for now though.

Double standards ahoy. Justify me this then:

1) Frost forum - why? It has less than 100 users and it's not even meant to be a P2P app in the traditional sense.

2) Gnutella - You have a forum for just about every client
