Lightbulb XoloX features... - May 3rd, 2002, 03:27 PM

i just downloaded 1.18 version of xolox and i gor to say it's good. but it can be improved...i'm just wondering what other people think about xolox 1.18 at the moment and what features it should include in the final public release....for example - automatically clearing typed history list, supernodes, etc.............

Of course there is room, but you shouldn´t expect that Xolox can add superpeers within a few days... the others needed months for coding and testing!

Remember Xolox wasn´t in active developemnet for SIX months!

XoloX isn't much better than when it was 6 months ago.

What do you expect? Do you really think they can develope ALL features, for which other clients needed months, in a few days?

Going by the way gnucleus' implementation of SuperNodes is working out, I'd rather not. It's all but wrecked the program.

What XoloX does need is a hashing, to prevent the dreaded rollback whereby you have a file at 98% which suddenly baks up to 40% or so. It's rare, but man I hate that.

I would like it if Xolox had hashing too. The “dreaded rollback” problem was caused by a bug that sometimes occurred in the file-assembling phase (when the completed download assembly). I haven’t seen this on the 1.18 yet myself, but if it does still happen the work around was to “uncheck the drop and retry incorrect download parts box” (Tools/Preferences/Downloads). This even works on ZIP files.

I'll try it! - May 9th, 2002, 01:26 AM

Excellent, I'll give that a go. I has a couple of annoying rollbacks lately, but pretty rarely. Hopefully that will sort it out.

A 'stop' button is not possible the way Gnutellanet works. Once a query is sent out, it can't be reversed.
The reason you get back new results after the first 30 seconds is simply because of the network always changing and response times vary from the initial search.

Got to have kaya......
