Eminem CD could be 'pirate proof' -
May 3rd, 2002, 07:03 AM
Hi!,
Eminem could become the latest high profile artist to have his album protected against copyright infringement. The controversial rapper and his Universal label are in talks to release the forthcoming The Eminem Show with technology that would prevent widespread copying. Just check this out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/low/english/en...00/1962093.stm |

and some copy protected cds wont play on DVD players ether. Even some of the new ones.
my pre-release comes from a few friends in the brodcasting field. I got D12's full albem two weeks before the "offical" release date. And the new KorN (only a few days on that one though) But I never hold my breath people nowadays are so friggin' unreliable sometimes. Talking about File Copy Protection...
Any of you remember the game Command & Conquer Tiberiun Sun? When this was released it was meant to be "un-copyable" and was deemed the best security in File Copy Protection going. I bought a copy, took it round my mates and started to play. Fair enough it wouldnt copy, but after a few tweaks of our burning properties we turned the copy speed down to 1x and used I think disc juggler and then it copied????? So this amazingly new "un-copyable" File copy Protection wasnt protected against a slow burner. |

I didnt have to do anythign to copy this. I just put it in and used nero. Made an image to my hard drive and then copyied it. You can get past most copy protection that way. But some you ahve to have a fast enough buner to read past the errors.

Yuppers, I dont know how we as a consumer, or the musicians as an artist, allowed the music industry to become such a gatekeeper controller over music. In many ways their slick talking making them become so much more from just distributors to the actual owners of music itself. They are not the music. They are just like any one aspect that makes up the process between artist to listener. Shame on us for allowing this to happen. Sadly, I hear so many people say "Vote with your dollar". Not that I disagree, but I bet the moment everyone did that, is when the RIAA/MPAA screams its piracy! They have too much power and the artist has none. And only loud mouths and mostly fringe element artists such as Metallica and Eminem speak for RIAA. Heck, I wish the fanbase for those artists would have some way of speaking their mind (if they all screamed to maintain the status quo...well then they get whats due to them). Music...is not a job...its a passion...and art. The moment you start your job of music, is when the music note falls flat. Sure no shame in making a buck, but the current mentallity and expectation is broken. Its pretty funny that artists scream of not making money while courting the devil (RIAA/MPAA). As for Eminem...sigh...that fool really needs to just grow up...I hate artists that try to be controversial for the sake of being contraversial. No message...just blowing steam and being noisy as hell in the hope that someone might think its different and called art.... But then again I guess art is in the eye of the beholder... sometimes its just in the wrong orifice.
Peace |
