and the music store is great for people who don't understand p2p. i'm going to get my parents to use the itms, only because they wouldn't understand how to stop the riaa lawsuits and only share non-copyrighted files, and how to even use a simple p2p like kazaa.
and besides, unlike p2p, all the files will come in fast, and it's not a matter of how many users have it, or how rare it is. just because it's on its own server with a real amount of bandwidth. |

Well lets see- I been running Panther now-sence it came out. Crashed-not! Once in a great while i may have a program quit, but never a total crash, and it isn't very often that happens.Just clik the program to get it up and running again. Think the last time that happened was about 6 months ago. It was photoshop 7. I was running about a dozon programs at once, when live update came up and it happened. This thing is on 24-7, and i am on it alot. Powerbook G4 667 MHz PowerPC G4- 1MB L3 cache- 768 MB SDRAM. Thats it- just a little one. Have 4 burners attached, 2 are DVD, a zip drive, a scanner, a printer, 8 speakers with floor thumper, webcam, DSL connection to the web. Macs-best thing going. :shoot

I have nothing against Apple people, but when you fanboy it, and then make a crappy excuse for a website that says "Want a better computer: Click Here (link to apple)" News for you: apple is not a PC. Any apple user should know that.
Also, as much as I would like an apple: I cannot afford one. So do you want a cookie for all those things you listed at the end? I have all of that crap with the exception of the 8 speakers, which I cant fit in my room. Windows XP doesn't crash on me, ever. The only reason it gets restarted is for Windows Updates and driver upgrades. The only reason windows is "unstable" is that many of the people that use it get a bunch of junk on there, and thus it crashes on them. Oh, and welcome to ZeroPaid. ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit) 2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM 2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer Also sporting a black MacBook Revision/Release 1 Upgraded to 2GB RAM. |

Yeah, but that junk kind of forces itself on you. I was using a winxp box today and several new pieces of ad/spy/crapware installed themselves without me doing anything. I attempted a cleaning with ad-aware and spybot, but the new processes kept coming up and I ended up battling them in the control-alt-delete dialog. Needless to say I went back and used my iMac, on which I've never gotten so much as a popup.
Oh, and technically macs are pcs. PC=personal computer. |

I thought tiger was coming soon...
anyways yeah my school had macs with panther and i hated it. it was slower than windows and Linux, crashed all the time, and overall too simplistic. Then again, im sure it wouldve been better if i could have used the command line. it was one of the few programs that was blocked for all students. only us dorm kids got to use ichat iphoto and itunes, etc. |

Tiger is coming soon, this is just an old thread. I've found that school computers suck no matter what OS they run. Maybe you would have enjoyed it more if they'd let you customize it. At my school they use windows 98 (ugh) and it crashes very often too. I realize the comparison is a little unfair, but I think their computers would be unstable even on XP. Windows is also a bit simplistic; the main menu says "start' on it, and there's a little animated dog to help with searches, plus a morphing paper clip to help with office work. It's always trying to help you through things with a "wizard", while on mac you usually have to know what to do yourself. On the bright side you can turn the animated characters off. :upside

hehe, just now asking about PANTHER?? I am already running TIGER on one machine.
p.s. If you want some real insight on Mac or Mac p2p in general visit peerlounge.com, you won't get in the middle of a Mac vs. Windows, since peerlounge is Mac only. ;) ~J. |
