Yes I liked it. - July 25th, 2002, 09:32 AM

Napster was awesome. And not only because it was the pioneer of the p2p platform, but because if it still existed today it would be a viable client. The sheer amount of music available on Napster at its peak was tremendous, something rivaled only by AG. Sure, it might not have had multi-source download, hashing, or encryption, but you could still get your files fast, and without waiting in a Que for hours.

I intend to live forever. So far so good.

i agree. napster is the father of file sharing for the masses. it didn't have a lot of features but it worked. look at all the file sharing programs that have names patterned after napster. grokster, blubster, mynapster, myster. i just wish i could have used it with broadband...

Talking Napster Rocked - July 25th, 2002, 10:52 AM

Yeah i liked the old Napster it was very user friendly and had great music selection. I also met some interesting people on the server chats as well. As for how it would be today i can't say i am sure it would at least have queing and multidownloading. I'm sure it'd kept up well as P2P evolves. But as the original goes was the best.

Napster was the best.... - July 25th, 2002, 12:16 PM

I agree too, Napster was the best. It's what started p2p sharing, I loved the interace, and it was the easiest one out there.. I THINK all new p2p programs that are released should just like the old napster, that was the best setup. so far Blubster, and winmx kind of look like it.

I think Napster was the greatest program, you could find all the music new and old on it. Didn't have to worry about spyware/adware or any popup/banner ads. It was fast, easy and it was the place to go to find anything you where looking for. It just set the standards for all p2p programs.

Thumbs up If Napster still existed as it was at its beginning, it would be the most appreciated - July 25th, 2002, 01:42 PM

Before the problems Napster had, it really was the best file sharing program.

There were tremendous files from everywhere in the world, songs from different cultures.

Possibility of choosing the bitrate and adding users to hotlists. There was also information on users connection speed, availability and multiple connection support.

What could have you asked more? Everything you were looking for was there. I mean... I don't understand why some people voted that they didn't like it... It has no sense. Except if it wasn't working on your computer but anyway, this doesn't mean it wasn't good, so no reason of voting a negative rating.....

Audiogalaxy did a good job also... too bad we're getting rid of the bests:wings :wings :wings :wings

For finding old stuff, nothing ever beat napster! Not now, not then!! All the RIAA did was make it hard for me to get old stuff and rare stuff. Mainstream stuff is still easy to get.

Napster was great for it's time - July 25th, 2002, 06:28 PM

With Napster and AudioGalaxy I got every file I could think of . Rare, obscure it didn't matter it was there. I only wish I had DSL then. I had a dial up modem and the downloads were painfully slow. I did meet some really great people on those programs but onward and foward. Where the hell is those new versions of Bluster, Filetopia, FileNavigator & WinMx already?!?!

Yeah I am also worrying about the new versions too. Both Blubster and Filetopia are taking the longest it seems.

Of course. Back when it worked, you could find anything you wanted there. I can't see the variety of mp3s that Napster had in any of today's file sharing programs.

Napster started it all, and it was very stable, but at that time i only had MSN dialup. Right when I got DSL Napster was in the shutting down face and KaZaA was rising into the all powerful state it is today, same with Morpheus but then it changed to Gnutella and that was the end for Morpheus

My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):
