No offense MusicMan, but it's not all that revolutionary. Anyone with a moderate amount of success is bound to have enemies, and I find it hilarious in the first place that someone would put LavaSoft on such a pedestal in the first place!

Who ever said they're saints? Paladins of justice? Defenders of people's rights? They make some useful software and don't charge for it. Besides that, I don't personally care if they eat kittens in Sunday black mass rituals.

It can be so easily denied, that this guy is just full of crap, but really it might have some truth in it.

I'm sure it might, but essentially it's irrelevant. We could sit here and slag off the sins of the Lavasoft crew all day, but the basic message is that they provide a service and ask for nothing in return from us.

Who cares what personality problems they have or what kind of bastards they are to each other and others behind closed doors? I don't have to sleep with them, I just want to keep my system clean of spyware.

And the whole DAP thing is BULLSHIT. Look it up.

I'd have to say Roameric is right here... I'm not gonna quit using sotware just because of the kind of person the creator is - if the sofwtare gets the job done, I dont care what kind of people they are, I'll continue to use the product as long as it continues to do what I need. On the same principle, I'm not going to pay for Napster 2.0 when it comes out just because Shawn Fanning is a cool guy.

Where did you find a place that says AdAware doesn't let DAP spyware sneak through, it better not be a ad-aware distribution site, of course they're going to deny they let anything through.

is that if people could put their petty indignations aside it would be a much prettier world wide web. For the record I didnt read most of the links in that litte rant, but the author obviously has a legitimate concern and therefore an ensuing desire to hop up on his pedestal and tell us about it. I am sorry, I dont think the deleting of a thread in a web site ranks as such an extreme degree of censorship. For instance, if zeropaid wanted to ban me or any thread of mine for any reason, I wouldnt write a multi page rant about their censoring me. Thats petty. And its not my website. Or maybe I just feel like I have more important things to do... like finding that new movie out before it hits the theaters. you know?
On the other hand, I would not be surprised if lavasoft and many of the companies we appreciate for their efforts are in fact "guilty" of many things we wouldnt like. IMHO very few people form a company and put hundreds of person hours into something- be it a program, protocol, or whatever- strictly for the principle of the thing. I truly applaud those that do, but most are in it for the money, or the chance of making money. And with todays cuttthroat competition all over, eventually many will turn to less than stellar business practices. BTW, I meant to exclude the majority of individual developers in that last thing.
And now I contradict myself, I did go off on a rant.... and no one even hurt my feelings to get it started! :tilted
