Metallica's new album, St. Anger... - June 6th, 2003, 12:27 AM

FUCKING BLOWS. Probably the worst album of the year and definitally the worst album of their declining career.

Why does it suck so much ? because its fucking horrible. Its all 2 minute songs repeated 3 times. The vocals sound like james swallowed a big cock just prior to recording and it sounds like lars is a 3 year old with cerebral palsy banging on a pot. Not to mention the meaningful lyrics: "frantic tick tick tick tick tock" "shoot me again, c'mon, shoot me again" and cant forget "KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL".

What a disappointment. Mainstream garbage from metallica. I wouldn't let this POS on my PC if it was given to me, let alone start polluting P2P networks with it. St Anger blows... dont bother.

Could not have said it better myself Moony (Well, maybe I could
;-) LOL)

In all seriousness, I simply could not believe how bad just the song ST. Anger is.

This is a lame attempt to reformat their sound to the modern garbage that has infested and permeated the airwaves over the last 10 years or so.

Words simply fail me in an attempt to describe what this "stuff" is that has been recorded onto a CD.

Metalliwho? The albumn does suck. The new deftones albumn is pretty damn good too bad there is only 11 songs.

Personally i cant wait for the new Radiohead Albumn to come out.

Sounds like a good soundtrack for high school kids who get drunk on Coors Light, throw a party in their own house, then end the night by either falling asleep in urine-soaked pants or raping their best friend's little sister.

Don't forget that there were two different versions released, one of which is a *hoax. The real St. Anger was only leaked on tuesday, so if you think you had it before that, think again.

Metallica_-_St.Anger-(Retail)-2003-RVL
Metallica-St.Anger-REAL_RETAIL-2003-MVP

choose the 2nd...

I'm still not saying it's good, :devil
but at least it's better than the first.

Yeah, i agree with Piranetus here.

I'm not their fan, by any means, but at least they're better than those who tried to cover their songs at MTVIcon.

Nothing compared to ride and master of puppets, but after seeing newstead leave and hetfield start wearing those geeky glasses i expected worse! And for the person who said that metallica never had meaningful lyrics, he can go check out the lyrics to hero of the day, one and many more and get back to us..
and btw what network can the full album be found on?

To tell the truth, I've only just got into them in the last year or so, and liked almost ALL of their stuff up until now.

It's horrible! They've gone all nu-metally! Urgh! And just as sales of that screaming bullshit have taken a nosedive! I mean, his voice has just gone, totally. It's just not as scratchy or bass-y anymore, so he's decided to turn into Cory Taylor. And what's with the drums? They're SO over-powering!

Had it been a good album, maybe they would have won back many of the fans who deserted them over Napster. As it is, they've just made the situation worse.

Bullet R|de: Yeah, I agree with you about the lyrics. Take a look over at PeerWeb.org for the album.

Seph: Have you heard it? 'Tis rather good. Particularly as we had it over at PeerWeb sometime in April, and it's scheduled for release today!

Yup, this album is quite terrible, IMO. I found myself waiting for Fred Durst to jump in and start rapping about "Nookie" half the time. It's like... watered down Meshuggah and Paradise Lost with some generic "nu metal" thrown in for MTV appeal sake. I'm not talking about the Rob Zombie/Meshuggah fakes either (I know someone will say that, but for your information, I d/led the MVP rip from a couple sources on DC++).

I think Newstead is right about Voivod now being superior to Metallica. Still, I think even they have degenerated greatly (in relation to "Dimension Hatröss").

Beyond bad, beyond sad, they are resting on their laurels now.

This is a very very lazy album, i have made better music then this shit.

<--------------this band OWNZ Metallica.

Anyway, from what I've heard, it's like they are trying to back to old school Metallica while at the same time putting in some new-metal stuff. Like they put it into a blender and tried to come up with something that would stick.

It is a miserable failure. Metallica are done like dinner.

The RIAA: Here, you can have $13 for all the years we ripped you off.

My response:
"That's ok, keep your $13 and I'll settle my claim via p2p."

Keep an eye on MS and the RIAA: http://slashdot.org

Man, this sucks.

I heard that the three first songs are okay on the album, perhaps Frantic being the best one. But this is real disappointing to hear. I have just looked at internet reviews, and many people have stated that the DVD is something that saves the album from being at least buyable. My friend got the album and I am going to rip the songs off and listen to it later this weekend. If you look on CDnow.com, which is operated by Amazon.com now, you will see that reviewers are recommending Britney Spears first album instead of the new Metallica. What a shame.
