To tell the truth, I've only just got into them in the last year or so, and liked almost ALL of their stuff up until now.
It's horrible! They've gone all nu-metally! Urgh! And just as sales of that screaming bullshit have taken a nosedive! I mean, his voice has just gone, totally. It's just not as scratchy or bass-y anymore, so he's decided to turn into Cory Taylor. And what's with the drums? They're SO over-powering! Had it been a good album, maybe they would have won back many of the fans who deserted them over Napster. As it is, they've just made the situation worse. Bullet R|de: Yeah, I agree with you about the lyrics. Take a look over at PeerWeb.org for the album. Seph: Have you heard it? 'Tis rather good. Particularly as we had it over at PeerWeb sometime in April, and it's scheduled for release today! |

Yup, this album is quite terrible, IMO. I found myself waiting for Fred Durst to jump in and start rapping about "Nookie" half the time. It's like... watered down Meshuggah and Paradise Lost with some generic "nu metal" thrown in for MTV appeal sake. I'm not talking about the Rob Zombie/Meshuggah fakes either (I know someone will say that, but for your information, I d/led the MVP rip from a couple sources on DC++).
I think Newstead is right about Voivod now being superior to Metallica. Still, I think even they have degenerated greatly (in relation to "Dimension Hatröss"). BCDC++ eMule Plus SoulSeek |

I doubt The rock station where i live was playing a fake.:mellow
Beyond bad, beyond sad, they are resting on their laurels now. This is a very very lazy album, i have made better music then this shit. |

<--------------this band OWNZ Metallica.
Anyway, from what I've heard, it's like they are trying to back to old school Metallica while at the same time putting in some new-metal stuff. Like they put it into a blender and tried to come up with something that would stick. It is a miserable failure. Metallica are done like dinner. |

i heard st anger and some song starting with a (maybe 'attack'?) from soulseek.
if lars is worried about millions of people DLing this album...he shouldnt be. this blows hard ogg=good The RIAA: Here, you can have $13 for all the years we ripped you off. My response: "That's ok, keep your $13 and I'll settle my claim via p2p." Keep an eye on MS and the RIAA: http://slashdot.org www.whatreallyhappened.com is interesting. Man, this sucks.
I heard that the three first songs are okay on the album, perhaps Frantic being the best one. But this is real disappointing to hear. I have just looked at internet reviews, and many people have stated that the DVD is something that saves the album from being at least buyable. My friend got the album and I am going to rip the songs off and listen to it later this weekend. If you look on CDnow.com, which is operated by Amazon.com now, you will see that reviewers are recommending Britney Spears first album instead of the new Metallica. What a shame. |
