Limewire - July 17th, 2002, 08:02 AM

I would say Limewire is the one and only for Linux (www.limewire.com), it connects to the tried and true Gnutella network so there's tons of content.

You need Java to run it, but it runs very cleanly in Linux, with minimal resource hogging. Windows people always complain about Java programs, but I've never found Java to hog my Linux resources ... I guess it's just a Windows thing, but isn't everything? :-)

Another one is edonkey (http://www.edonkey2000.com/) but I was never able to get it to work in Linux or windows.

Don't forget Qtella and GTK-Gnutella. Those are two great clients that are very fast and stable. One is written in C++ using Qt and the other is written in C using GTK. The only thing they don't have is Ultrapeer capability.
