asf to mpg

Newbie here. Does anyone know of a program to convert .asf to mpg? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know version 1.3c and earlier of Virtual Dub can work with asf, but as far as other programs, I can't remember off hand. I know there are some though.

As far as I know, Premiere and Tmpgenc will do it too.

ASF Tools.....

First grab ASF Tools...find it via Google...

Then open the file...convert to AVI...it's just a header so you still need to fully convert later on.

Once you have this 'fake' AVI file...

Open it in VirtualDub (google as well...)

Make sure you have the mpeg4 Vk codec installed...

Then convert it to uncompressed AVI...

Now hop on over to Tmpeg and open the AVI file and convert to mpeg1/2 there...

Lotta work for a crappy ASF/WMV clip if you ask me...but whatever.
