my first thought was "omg, i hate green." but seeing the little icon in the dock, it's growing on me. green = grwoing = spring = plants?

anyway, the first thing you notice about the new itunes is the new control buttons. they look like the buttons in safari. and the volume control slider looks pretty good too.

the next thing you notice is the music store. i like the store's look and feel. i think this could become a good source of files later on. right now, id venture a guess that apple is bringing in quite a nice profit on it.

but, i dont like the green playlist look.

imagine my surprise to see, that in the itunes preferences, you can hide the store's button! you can also share your itunes library! i am pretty sure rendezvous handles this.

aac encoding is another new thing with apple. im not sure if i like it yet. i see it as apple's way of duplicating wma... not good. but luckily, itunes still holds all its mp3 goodness. (aac requires qt6.2 as well)

other than that, itunes has pretty much stayed the same... smart playlists, etc.

the verdict:
wow. 5 (out of 5)
pros: another beautifully integrated prog from apple. music store. ability to share mp3's straight through itunes.
cons: aac? hmm. music store? green... i liked itunes2, the nice blue icon ;)

the music store can be hidden.
the green icon can be changed.
and aac can always be converted to mp3.
