i don't say this very often about software, but if your computer can handle it:
go buy xp, it's worth every penny.
it is simply the best microsoft os to date.
95 and ME are the worst.

What kind of files are we talking about here? if they're installed programs, say like microsoft word, then you have to have a setup file, you cannot just copy the stuff over
If you're talking about word processing, then just burn them to a cd or put them on a floppy
I swear you were just asking this question a week ago...

i know we went through this before........ and i figured out that i can just burn them and play the games from the disk...........but i have a more improtant problem..............none of this will be possible if i cant reload the other computer with the software restoration kit from my current computer.............i thought i had everything accounted for and ready............when i went into setup i changed the boot order from 1. floppy disk 2. hard drive to 1. CD-ROM 2. Floppy disk........when i did this the computer said to insert a bootable disk into the destination drive.............i put in the restoration cd and it said the same thing................so the question becomes......i need to dump everything off of the computer and restore windows me and the programs from this computer onto it...........so what do i need to do now, or am i not doing this right?...........and i know this is a file-sharing forum, if you read my other thread on this topic, you will see my explanation for asking my questions here..............

When I get back from rehab . . I am sending you the bill!
Are you suggesting, in all seriousness, that you can just take a restore CD from one computer, and use it to reload a different PC?
This is NOT possible.
You are trying to do to much with too little.
A: unless you are using an ORIGINAL Microsoft O/S Cd for an O/S, with their watermark and logo, dont ask anyone here for help.
B: Unless you can learn to burn your data to CD for backup and transfer, we cant help you.
Go to Barnes and Nobles, and spend time reading the How To books in the PC Mag section. Some are 1/4 think, and worth the $10. You are really really beyond the scope of what we do here.
Sorry to be brunt, but theres no need in avoiding scope of your situation.

Restore Disks are meant ONLY to be used on the computer (model) they came with. They CANNOT be used on a different model. You will need an ORIGINAL Microsoft CD for the Installation to work. And if you do decide to get one off of KaZaA...DON'T GET WINDOWS ME!!!!!!!!
