Hey everyone. I'm new here so if you could, take it easy on me. I've been following the latest developments in the "war on P2P" and i have decided to post a personal quote of mine that seems to fit the current events. So here it goes......

"P2P networks are no worse than CD writing software and CD Burners, in that they both do the same thing.......(not always, but can of course) Allow unauthorized and illegal replication of copyrighted material. The difference is, CD writing software and CD Burners are widely accepted and even distributed by the same companies (although not the same division of the companies, it's still the same company.....i.e. Sony) that are trying to "protect" their copyrights. Why the hypocrisy and contradictions? It seems like a "Catch-22" to me."
Copyright 2003 DG Mortal@Mortal Inc.

Notice the copyright.....DO NOT distribute this without asking first or i will sue you!....................Just kidding, feel free to use it however you wish. I hope to hear what some of you think, and if you agree with this, because I feel i have made a good point here. Let me know what you think.

Your quote sucks.
It has been reitterated countless times by countless people
I myself have heard it no less than 300 times
Nobody wants to hear another p2p quote from a depressed 13 year-old who thinks what they say 'matters'

on the plus side, welcome to zeropaid :)

thanks for the warm welcome chipperrox. like i mentioned, i am NEW here. i havent had a chance to read everything that has been posted on this forum throughout the years its been here. a simple "that's already been said, thanks for joining our site" with the "welcome to zeropaid :)" would have been nice. i appreciate the friendliness i get from a fellow atlantan. i am used to people in this city being nice (for the most part). im not one to judge on first impressions so i'm open to keep it friendly. and by the way, i'm not a depressed 13 year old, im a mentally stable 20 year old who is new to forums. give me a little time to get used to this and i wont post things that have been said about 500 times. and last but not least, thanks for the welcome to zeropaid :)

What you said is correct, but the following is with better wording (and video recorders instead of cd burners)

"Defendants distribute and support software, the users of which can and do choose to employ it for both lawful and unlawful ends. [P2P Programs] are not significantly different from companies that sell home video recorders or copy machines, both of which can be and are used to infringe copyrights."

Maybe, but it should be that way. When I see another generation of ZP members, that I welcomed here, turn out like the old ones, it's disheartening.

Chipperox, was that the best way you could welcome the new person?
Welcome DG, although your comment has been posted before, its still a valid one. Personally, I understand that you wouldn't have been able to read through thousands of posts before making your own.

about your little 'copyright':

didnt you come to the entirely wrong place to be copyrighting material? i mean, the riaa already suggests we violate copyrights, etc.

so... if you copyright it, it doesnt matter.

dg_mortal

that was the whole point behind the "copyright". i know that a copyright doenst mean anything in the file sharing world. i am a file trader myself (of course, otherwise i would have no point for being here). i put there just to mock the industry and hopefully catch a few laughs.

It's true, you guys are assholes one minute, and hero the next.

I hate to think that some of these people would judge ZP by their first impressions, but we know they do.

Yah I know, and that why I havent said anything more than I did.

His humorous attempt at breaking the ice is a lot better then some of these "I am the greatest thing to file sharing since data" attitudes we get. At least hes not running around in a Zorro mask talkin smack like zero pain was.

lmao. yea. i will admit, that since it was just a joke, its cool... but seriously, i can see some guy who has never heard of p2p before, coming on to find some info, and writing the copyright thing.

welcome to the new guys....:)
hey no one welcomed me here yet either...
(its been nearly a year :D )
interesting what you said but there are numerous articles on this subject from everything from the horse drawn carriges being forced out by horseless carriges to the
beta cam case in the 7o's
the boss of sony's hardware division had some interesting things to say a month or 2 ago....in regards to its smaller less profitable
enertainment division.....
AOL /time -warner is another case in point

if u like reading there is several months of archived p2p news
here (http://www.p2p-zone.com/underground/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=14888&sortby=&sortorder=)
