Click on 'run' in the start menu then type 'regedit'.
Word of caution; don't change anything unless know exactly what you are doing in registry.

Before you change ANYTHING, make sure you have a backup!
Go to file, then export, and save the entire registry as something you will remember, that way if you mess something up, you can just double click that file and it should be "ok" again
The way you worded makes me cringe kyle, lol, just be smart about it (you make it sound like you want to break in and loot it)

What O/S are you using?
All of the above is true, but your system should have a backup already.
If you have any questions about a reg item, or editing let me know,
cheers

Good luck.

Is good for some advanced tweaking http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=guide
For XP, I honestly think that http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm can make the biggest difference in performance, but use it wisely, you can dissable your internet if you tweak too hard, and do other nasty stuff
http://www.pureperformance.com/ has some good advanced stuff to

I thought you didn't like tweaking Krell? That just for the newbies?

I'm somewhat against tweaking
BUT, I'm really only against heavy tweaking when you don't know WHAT you're tweaking, or don't know how its working, from experience, this is how you cause problems, you go to a tweak site, use every tweak, and when there's a problem, you don't know what you tweaked, and don't know where to start

Get the subsystem straightened out, get the drivers and GUI set up, back it up, export your settings with the Wizard, then leave it alone.
Just be methodical and judicious as you go. Some people go thru tweaks like Homer Simpson randomly pushing buttons at the nuclear power plant.
