I have to go with "A New Hope", it's always been the 1st one to me.

For me, Return of the Jedi will always be the best in the series.

Empire Strikes Back is too boring and bland, nothing even happened in that one, there was no little ship that blew up a big ship. New Hope is alright, but Return of the Jedi is just the culminating movie. The new ones are alright, but they seem like they lack the flare and charisma the first ones had.
It seems like good acting got replaced by special effects. I don't know what they were thinking, but Anakin Skywalker can't act worth beans in the first one, my friends and I still say "IT'S WORKING, IT'S WORKING!!!" And then of course, "LOOK, IT'S ONE OF OURS, IN THE MAIN HANGAR", that guy looks like the biggest loser I've ever seen (except when I look in the mirror). The Queen is totally monotone throughout the movie, and the mom is the most meaningless character ever. The only guy that can act at all is Ewan McGregor and kind of the guy that played Quigon.

I'd have to go with a new hope. Nothing beats the original. The Phantom Menace was total shit.

Lucas went CG mad for the latest 2 and i suspect the next one is going to be the same.... i would rather he use the old skool technic... that is to use models instead.... dun think financially he can support that sort of production.

ESB was the best, hands down... It is the greatest chase movie of all time. The battle between Luke and Vader in Cloud City kicks the shit. The movie is dark and has a true twist that you really didn't see coming. The protagonist gets his hand chopped off as well, unusual in a "kid's" movie. This movie is full of conflict and has much lying beneath the surface.

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command did a spoof of that whole sequence, with the evil emperor Zurg telling Buzz Lightyear during a fight scene, "Buzz, I am your father!"
That one was good, but as a 12 year old kid when the first Star Wars movie came out, there can not ever be anything that will ever replace that movie in the pantheon, not even close. It played in the local theater for a year and a half and we saw it dozens of times.
And there was no racism a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

The recent episodes have really gotten away from the LOTR feel of the first three episodes, especially strong with the underlying spirit of episode IV.
codename--picture this. A sun-sized giant sphere that smashes everything--now that would be so cool!
I am sitting at the library of all places. I so have to get some research done--off to the WIlliam & Mary Quarterly!! Weeeee!

I'm no fanatic, so I enjoyed them all, but Phantom Menace was the weakest, but they all had their good and bad points, I actually liked the Clone Wars, I don't see the real beef with that one, oh well, I think everyone enjoyed seeing Yoda bust out a little som'in som'in

i have to agree with "Empire Strikes Back".
but then i love Star Wars period.
i also have to agree, and with much perplexity, that the earlier episodes, were much more believable.
even with all the technological advances, the newer ones sucked.
they were too glorified and hyped and the computer enhancements made them only more unbelievable.
how ironic.
the stories could have been good, if the visuals and actors were chosen differently.
nevertheless.....it's good to see where Lucas's vision takes the stories.
so i'll watch em' all.
and probably enjoy them for what they r today.
edit*...doh....wrote the wrong one.
ESB all the way.

Which one had the EWOKS in it? That one is my favorite one of them all, but I love Return of the Jedi.
The new ones are cool for special effects, but their just not as fun to watch as the old ones, and not as much action and a story I think.
The Old ones, are definately the classics and still the best for me. But, that happens with alot of great movies, they try to add on later on, and make sequals and they usually end up turning out bad. The originals will always be the best!

:devil Yeah I remember that it came out the last week of school and it seemed that I must have seen that movie at least 30 times that summer...LOL
