It really isn't a good day for Kazaa Lite. First there website goes down, and now there forum has gone down.

On the other hand, KaZaA m8 (http://m8.vze.com) has been having a brilliant day, with the opening of the new forum at http://m8forum.vze.com

from your "website"

"IMPORTANT INFORMATION: During the weeks leading up to the release of KaZaA m8 v1.1 we will be building blacklists of people sharing child pornography. We will then post a wall of shame on the site, and be forwarding all information to the FBI, who will be free to do with this information what they wish. WE ARE NOT STARTING THIS NOW AS WE ARE GIVING PEOPLE A FAIR WARNING OF OUR ACTIONS, BUT IF YOU CHOOSE TO IGNORE THIS THEN WE CANNOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LEGAL ACTION BROUGHT AGAINST YOU"

why not forward ALL addresses to the FBI, as 99.84% of anything shared on kazaa is just as illegal as kiddy porn--do you think sharing madonna's new album or the lord of the rings is any less illegal?

what about your program? it facilitates the sharing of illegal material--are you going to turn yourself in?

idiot

Child Pornography is also morally wrong.

I haven't had any Kazaa problems today. If you are having a matter unrelated to child porn, you just need to check your settings. If you are downloading child porn, remember it is Easter weekend-and I suggest you get down on your knees and start praying that I don't find you.

I agree with notbob...sure it's morally wrong and fucked up, but you might as well turn yourself in for downloading pretty much anything on Kazaa....

And while your "Wall of Shame" idea is nice...it's been tried before and it doesn't work too well.

Someone on some ISP downloads the shit then signs off and someone else signs on..they get that IP...now anyone viewing your wall of shame may wish to blast them...and in doing so DoS or hack someone whose innocent of the 'crime'.

Yeah. That and people who share that crap too would use that wall as a place to look for sources for more of that filth.

Speaking of shameless, what exactly is new about "KaZaA m8" besides the really lame name ? Does it do ANYTHING that KL++ doesn't do ?

I say we make a 'Wall Of Asses' here on Zeropaid and add this persons user name as well as website and contact info. What do you think ? :devil

Nothing new except the self-appointed cyber moral police aspect.

As far the "wall of asses" we might run out of space really fast considering the rate that out resident poser/zeropain is putting out nicks these day, lol.

Sharing child porn and say a movie or copy righted music are completely different in terms of legality, sure sharing music and movies is "technically" against the law, but there is a HUGE difference between the two, and the severity of punishment.

To say sharing movies and kiddy porn is one in the same is extremely erroneous.

Why must people play the devils advocate on issues such as these?

No one here has a problem sharing movies or games ETC.
But I am sure that 99.99% of everyone here has a problem with someone sharing child porn.

And quite frankly, I dont think it is such a bad idea turning in people who trade in child pornography.

I don't think anyone here is advocated sharing child porn, but a p2p program that actively monitors content with a threat of turning in IPs to FBI is a bad precedent. Plus I don't know this person so this might be a cover ploy gather IPs of user with other illegal content as well

What if I make a version tomorrow that is anti-porn because I believe porn is immoral and I start turning in users that are sharing illegally shared regular porn to the authorities as some sort of moral crusade? I'm sure that a few members here will have some immediate choice ideas about what I can do with my program!

The current idea for this program might be rightous (to the almost all of us), but it has potential for misuse(both the general idea and the current format) and that can't be ignored.

All of you are wrong and I am right.
That having been said, the real reason it is so hard to defend against child pornography on Peer 2 Peer networks is because of the fact that you have no idea if the file you are downloading is the same as it is titled. Something that may have been labeled as a child pornography tape, may be nothing more than a video of grass growing. Vice versa if you thought you were downloading some high quality grass growing tapes (oxi-moron) but instead got kiddie porn. In order to verify the pornographic nature of a video tape, one would have to download it themselves, thus incriminatinbg themselves as well. Is it alright to break the law, to try to stop people from breaking the law? And is it okay if you're non-police personel?
think about that.

An excellent post Wolfie!:fire :fire
I also have a problem with people having that kind of power because who's to say they would stop with child porn? Just say a person doesn't like music with cussing in it or gangster rap, or, dare I say, legitimate porn then what would we have? It's kind of like book burning or record smashings in the past. It might start with a noble idea but there will always be people to twist it for their own agenda.
