Can anyone direct me to info on how to burn & execute these type of files? If this is an "outlaw" post I sincerely apologize, I do not want to break any rules. If any info you have on this is against the rules could you please take the time to email me? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Burning an ISO is not an outlaw question, we merely request that you do not name specific files or work-arounds here.

Tell us a bit more, again, which O/S? and what Burning app . . . Nero . . . EZ CD . .?

We have the details on how to do this in previous threads, which we can usually find.

Thanks Krell!

I use 98 SE & "bundled" Nero version 5.5.9.2. I know there's an update, I just haven't done it yet.

My question is, "How do I burn it to CD from "My Shared Folder" & then execute the ISO.exe?".

Sorry, I left that off my previous post.

You need to make sure that the ISO.exe itself is extracted. Nero should be able to do that. Winiso is good too.

I'm not real savy on burning processes, still learning this aspect of computing. I learn as I need to know. I can take the burner out & do just about anything that needs to be done with it as far as repair, configure, etc... Almost like a car mechanic that can't drive but takes the car out on a test drive. Hehehehehe!!! LOL!!! Not that bad!

When I open Nero I click "FILE" > "COMPILATION INFO" correct?

Click on ISO tab. Options are:
ISO Level one
or
ISO Level two

Format Mode options are: 1 or 2/xa

Joliet: check or un-check

Once it's burned to disc do I need to boot with bootdisc to command prompt or will the CD be bootable?

Have I left out anything?

When you say to make sure it's extracted I'm not sure I folow you. The file isn't in a zip format, if that's what you mean.

How I would do it, is not to put an uncompressed ISO file on a CD.
WINRAR may be able to do it, but definelty WINISO. Extract the contents of the ISO file into a temorary folder. Open up Nero, select all the files from the temoporary folder, and drag them into the window where you will burn the CD. Click the little "burn" icon, and you are good to go.
To answer your other question, it depends on what your installing, and if it has an autorun feature.
If your computer can boot to the CD rom drive then navigate through your drive via command prompt and type x:\setup.exe.
(Assuming that your installing an operating system.)

When I click on the ISO file I get this error: "(the name of the file)iso.exe is not a valid Win32 application".

hmmm

There IS NO iso.exe, so rename it to just iso.

Then try this.

I tried that the other day to no avail. I even tried to zip it & unzip it via Winzip. The file can only be dealt with or sent to as a whole.

1. Install Cd Mate (better in my opinion)

2. Launch and select burn image file to cd, at startup u get a wizard in which you can select this option directly (image files are .iso .bin .nrg .cif etc.)

3. Done. You don't even have to change any options besides how fast the cd will burn, always let it burn at half speed (try if the CD autostarts by putting it back into the CD drive after you're done burning)

the file names something-iso.exe (or similar) is most likely an iso image, not an exe program. change the extention to .iso, then you should be able to burn this image to a cd in nero/ez-cd/etc. if you are unsusre if it is an iso, try to open it with isobuster

:gj That was a lot easier & less detailed than I thought it was going to be.

Deleted the .exe extension from the end of the ISO file name > opened Nero Burning Rom > clicked on "File" in the top/left of Nero window > clicked on "Burn Image" > navigated to ISO file to be burned > clicked on "Open" > checked boxes for "Write" & "Finalize CD" > clicked "Write" button & I was on my way.

Thank you ALL for your help & input. I greatly appreciate it. :gj
