You can easily find a ftp cilent.. I dunno why unless you want to get things like patches, linux or stuff like that which is pretty much all youll be able ot easily find..

Running a server i dont think would be that good a idea because most scan for that so youll easily get busted if you are serving anything that might be illegal. Its also against your isp TOS and you might get a threat letter or cut off..

FTP is something more of the past. Sure, people still use them, but when you have better, easier qualities from progs like emule or kazaa, why bother? I haven't really done anything ftp in a long time, but if you want just a good basic ftp search engine I like:

http://www.oth.net/

http://www.filemirrors.com/

http://www.ftpcrawler.net/

And I'm not sure, but you may want to be careful when speaking of ftp too. I don't think you are allowed to post direct ftp sites here, so just a heads up.

And as far as FTP clients, depending on what your purpose is, if you just want to upload things, I like Total Commander and CoffeCup Free FTP.

ftp absolutely kicks ass for 0day stuff. you just need to know where to go.

I still get almost all my stuff from ftp. It may be old but it's still the fastest and the best way imo.

If you want an ftp program I suggest you try CuteFTP...

I would suggest FlashFXP for client. FXP server2server transfer is really usefull sometimes. It's a good client in the usual FTP use too.

You'll find a wide selection of FTP clients on download.com

WS_FTP and CuteFTP are some of the most commonly used ones.

FTP is the underground form of file sharing, it's not obselete by any means, just not as much in the open anymore. I still use it as an inexpendable tool. I transfer files all the time to my friends via FTP and I imagine that unless internet speeds go through the roof, and hard drive space get gigantic, there will always be a need to transfer rare files with that precious upload bandwidth with FTPs to people that share similar interests.

in fact, i use [a hacked version of] cute ftp pro 2. i haven't tried cuteftp 3 tho, might want that. but cute ftp is good. it has an integrated html editor, and all sorts of nice options. ws_ftp, i think that is just for ftp. no html editor (actually, cuteftp has more of a file editor... any file can be opened with it *even a jpeg, mwahaha*).

1.Because FTP is used to upload a website (try this with your Kazaa)
2. Because it's much faster to get legal programs than eMule or Kazaa and a lot of companies and coders rely on that form of distribution.

Personally I use LeechFTP.

Try SmartFTP. Nice GUI, and freeware.
