Will Bearshare still work if I install it and then clean up all the spyware/adware add-ons with Spybot?
I have been using Gnucleus as my gnutella application, but it does not provide many results. In fact, my old version of the now-defunct Gnotella 1.05 gives more search results! This is why I would like to have a look at Bearshare. I am not ready to live with the add-ons though...
Please, I know about Shareaza, but would still like to know how Bearshare behaves when the add-ons are removed.
Thanks

i havent used it in quite a while, but it was fine the last time i did that... cant hurt to try. you can always reinstall later if it does get screwed up.

easiest way would be to use the betas which dont have the bundled programs.

just so you know .4 servents which im pretty sure gnotella is and so is the older servents are unsupported by almost all the majority vendors now only 1-2 might still be supporting them for some reason i dunno why.
Also you cannot take advantage of the numerous protocol advancements over the year and half from when .6 handshaking was adapted.
Search results does not mean greater success or greater speeds. Most programs now have things like the download mesh which is always looking for sources for the files your downloading without having to research the network and is much more efficient than in the past.
Especially with gnutella older is not better..
