Can anyone tell me how I can find out what the buttons on the WINMX interface mean, apart from the bleeding obvious like search etc.
Also what are primary and secondary connections? How do you change from one to another?

Also what are primary and secondary connections?
Primary connection is similar to a supernode in Gnutella. It helps route queries and traffic throughout the network. Secondary is just a simple connection to the network.
How do you change from one to another?
Under the network tab, simply select secondary connection with the check box. Primary will automatically unselect when you do that.
