playing DVDs on my computer

I have a hp pavillion ze1210, also known as a computer with blue lights that sucks balls at doing good things.

When I try to play a DVD, the sound is choppy and awful. Back when I first got this thing, it worked fine. I don't use it often for DVDs, but I'd like it to work properly when I try.

So can anyone help me out as to why the sound is awful and crappy for DVDs, but is fine for music? Basically it's fine for everything except DVDs.

You said it worked before.. tell me, are you using the same player? If not have you tried to get it back?

Before going bonkers try some other players like:

- WinDVD <-- I HIGHLY recommend this one. Worked great when I had shit for RAM and works great even after I upgraded.

- PowerDVD <- I don't like it but others have had GREAT success with it. Give it a try.

Search KaZaA or some other service for a "trial" version *cough* of one of these players, just make sure you have an adequete virus scanner for any piggy backed nasties.

Control Panel > System > DVD ROM > Properties make sure DMA is checked in the middle tab....

hit apply/OK and restart the system then try playing a DVD.

Other then that you may be doing other things... (software that loads up in the background) that sucks up cpu cycles thus slowing the software decoding down...and fucking it all up.
