Is there a guideline you use to keep so much in your shared
folder? What would be prudent regarding riaa, etc.
I've heard or read too much exposure to puplic
was not wise- any recommendiations?

Personally, I have no specific guild-lines about how much to share regarding riaa issue and all. I share as much as I have to keep the p2p community strong since there are enough leechers out there. If in future I do get cease and desist letter (haven't got one yet) from my isp I guess stop sharing that specific file its referring to, but so far so good.

SB's a bullshitter. Don't listen to him. He shares. He is one of the big P2P sharers. Ya know, 1,000 goat porn movies.......and all those homosexual crossdressing photos.

I can picture it now(**shivers**). SB, sitting there in his little black dress, masturbating to homosexual goatporn while thinking about MoonMan's cats.

A very disturbing image indeed. And if I wasn't fucked up as it is, I would have to seek professional help.

I have the whole series of a lot of TV shows such as The Wonder Years, Get Smart, and Step By Step etc. The RIAA doesn't care about that, especially because none of those are even for sale.

The whole entirety of the knowledge would easily fit on a 360k, 5.25 inch floppy disk with a lot of room to spare.

To me this is the single most important issue and the reason that I log onto Zeropaid day after day. I will admit that I am nervous about logging on with my share. I have 4 hard drives (440 gigs) and 340 gigs are designated as shared. I have messed around with proxies and have never been able to get a connection through them. I use peergaurdian whenever I log on with a file sharing app but even then it is only good as what I have been able to update it.
I don't want the RIAA or the MPAA to win but I'm not cavalier enough to say "screw em" and take my chances. I want to share as much as anyone and be one of the fat cats online but until I can advance from a file sharing dunce I can only hope to gleam enough knowledge from you guys and gals to do it in obscurity.
I do greatly appreciate the knowledge that I have acquired from these forums so far and hope to find the file sharing "holy grail"

lol, you will not find much knowledge on kazaa... its a 'newbie' network.

i would try dc++ (or another dc clone) or edonkey to find knowledge. that's where the knowledge should be.

garbage eh? isn't sharing garbage worse than not sharing at all?

do you download copyrighted works? if they are willing to risk their ass uploading to you, then you should be willing too--if not, then why should you benefit while risking nothing?

if you aren't willing to share what you take, then don't take anything

You should be a mod notbob, they claim they want balance.

I have a fairly small hard-drive somy max share is only ever about 14 gb. I'll share it all on some networks, however to be honest I don't share it all on kazaa, the damn thing makes me too nervous. Usually @ 1/4 of that.

But to answer the original question I suppose that is enough to get my ears pinned back anyway.

To address one of you're points, whos to say what Phalkon is sharing is worthless? If there is someone out there that is willing to download it, its not worthless.

example--why download bmwfilms stuff, freeware, and service packs (any non illegal stuff) through p2p when it is freely available (at a faster speed probably) on the website of whoever he got it from?

that is a complete waste of time isn't it?

I believe it said right in his post that people download his shares. Therefore, its not worthless.

Besides, if I looked at you're share, I might be able to label a lot of your stuff "garbage".

Opinions, all opinions.

I do what I can to help out around here, I'm not a mod, but I try to do what I can without their abilitys, not that they need the help, but "every little bit counts"

Honestly, if you looked at all my posts (which I know you don't care to do), my style of how I say things really hasn't changed, whether I had 2 or 2000 posts

Also, a lot of sig2dat sites have things like patches or service packs, or widely distributed freeware, I guess people use those sites as an all in one download place, and people download the files....so who gives a fuck, nobody ever really downloaded any of my music, so why risk my ass

People use kazaa because its very diverse, I guess I'm doing a small part in helping keep it that way

I stopped using DC++ when I was on a hub that shut down because MediaForce did a bunch of IP grabs. That spooked me. I wanna share (back on DC because in my opinion that's the way to build a community), but I have yet to hear someone convince me that having my IP grabbed by some watchdog group is nothing to worry about.

I shared 120+gb of movies and progs mostly. I'd be back at it if I was convinced that getting my IP recorded (and probably the amount I share if not content I share as well) was not a big dealio.

Any takers?

Kind of ironic when you read this http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9406 which SUprEMeBeiNg started and says on it

"its the new pod song sleeping awake the single for matrix reloaded

wanted to help it get on networks"

Nothing like taking a beating on two threads at the same time, SUprEMeIdiOt

As to the main topic, I share (on KaZaa; tried WinMX, but found it pretty much sucked as far as I was concerned) all the mp3's and programs I've downloaded, and from cd's I've burned and tapes I've digitally re-copied with my other computer, which has a LiveDrive. I don't share program files off my c drive because everything I have is fairly archaic. I'm still running millenium on this old e-machine, and all the stuff I have is out there in much more updated versions.

Lot of hubs are starting to go private based on problems that you have stated.

you worry too much

they want the operators'/owner's IP--they are the "napster" so to speak (central server)--if they gave a crap about you, you would have a letter by now

(p.s. they don't give a crap about you)

We always seem to view opposite of one another, but downloading patches and updates lately has become troublesome. Slow servers etc.

When ever a new game demo comes out i look first on P2P networks. Same goes for large updates/patches etc.

I used to share everything on Kazaa then moved it all to Shareaza (not because of MediaForce and such, it was before this stuff happened) then figured out that it wasn't doing any good there, then I tried DC++ and SoulSeek and found out it was overflowing with stingy assholes (not ALL the users, just a shitload though) so then I found Ares and I exclusively share my files there and there only. I am happy with my files being there and having a mini community there with the chat and all. I still use K++ in case I can't find something more rare that I can't grab off of Ares but I don't share on the FastTrack network anymore just because of the hoards of leechers. :fire

here's a good example--nero downloading

at their site 64KB/s from DC++ 5.3 KB/s

plus the DC++/kazaa/donkey whatever could be repackaged with a virus, a trojan, could be an old version etc
