Calling all ZP gamers

Ok, I've been thinking about this for a while, I'm sure a lot of you ZP users have pretty tweaked out systems, and plenty of legally bought games, right? :)

Well, lets put them to good use, and have a LAN party, only do a multiplayer over the internet

My broadband might not be able to work as a server (768/128k cable), but I know a lot of you have pretty nice connections, and could run a game server for a few quick frags

I'm open to suggestions, but some my friends and I use at LAN partys are:

-Quake 3 Arena
-Unreal Tournament
-Unreal Tournament 2003 demo
-Return to Castle Wolfenstein
-Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2
-Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast
-Original Doom (for the old times sake, and now there is the online multiplayer mod)
-Urban Terror (A complete changeover realism mod for Quake 3, similar to CS, but no terrorists or money or bombs or other weak stuff, just pure fragging fun)
-Counter Strike
-Impossible Creatures
-Battle Field 1942

I think if we had a few games maybe once a week, it could be a lot of fun, use the IRC room to arrange tournaments, get a password protected game server, and leave it open to any ZP members

Well, I haven't installed BF1942 yet, but I'll see how I like that

UT2003, I'll be buying that soon, my friends and I are going to pitch in together and buy it, then get a key gen for lan partys :)

hmm... im a big gamer, and here's what i'd like to see played:
RtCW
Q3 ( is it possible to have a cracked server for this?)
ut2k3 (cracked)
gta3: multi theft auto (when .3 comes out)
NFSHP2

note that if we do decide to do this, it should be purely for fun. i dont know about any of you, but i have been in a clan before, and i hated it. had it not been such a great game (RtCW) i would have lost all interest in the game due to the clan. i didn't hate it because i was no good, i am a great player, its just that playing a game for competition takes all the fun out of it for me.

I've played most games, and I would love to play online as long as the servers are.... ahem... "fixed." anyway, UT2K3 sounds like a decent idea as long as we can all find the right patches. There is a fixed server for that game. Multitheft auto is too buggy and only supports 2 players. IMO, racing games wouldn't have enough time for chatting etc... Quake 3 is getting pretty old, I would recomend UT2K3 instead.

We would need a modern combat game, and Counterstrike is certainly a classic. (Is there a patched server for that????) Other alternatives are RTCW, Urban terror, which I haven't played in a while but think counterstrike is better than, and battlefield 1942. The origonal Doom would be interesting, but we would need a server to distro it. I might be able to supply a pub or two.

I wouldn't participate in BF1942 because my videocard does not like to cooperate with it, but everyone certainly loves it. What about No One Lives Forever 2? I haven't gotten around to installing it, but it looks cool... Jedi Outcast is good too, and we don't even need a cracked server for that! There is a multiplayer patch...

Impossible Creatures *sucks* IMO, Neverwinter nights is too slow, Dungeon Siege might be an easier game for newbs to get into.

What about Medal of honor allied assault, warcraft III, and age of mythology/AOE2???? I also love C&C Generals.

Raven Shield is fun, but takes too long to get into for newbs. (Like me...) There is hacked multiplayer however.

We would need to release an official games listing approx. 1 week in advance so we can secure servers and so everyone can get games they don't have.

What about one of the most realistic FPS shooters SOLDIER OF FORTUNE 2 Double helix, this is the best online game i have ever played.

I agree, I really hated CS, and I only included it because I know its popular. Frankly, the gameplay was confusing, the graphics were "ok", and overall I just hated it

Urban terror would be a cool one, the graphics kick ass, and its pretty realistic how they have the game laid out

Whats with the cracked servers, am I not aware of something?

Right now I'm looking at quake and a UT, most likely 2003, we could do the demo just to try it, that way ANYBODY can participate

I don't know, I win 9/10 games I play in HP2 over the net.

I'd be down with StarCraft of WarCraft III though (I've only played it once though).

i voted for quake 3 because ive been a quake fan since version one. quake simply kicks ass. although there should have been an all of the above checkbox because i also like unreal tournament and counter strike. i rarely ever play those two, but they are decent. but the game i play the most is grand theft auto 3. they just keep making this game better every day! i have the real weapons mod, and the real life mod so it has real cars and real ads in it. ah, good ole grand theft will always be in my heart...

Sorry, I've been gone all day, and busy before that

I talked to Moony, and he haggled me into having some kind of a turn based thing, some of the demands he made were downright nasty, and some where just weird (he wanted to give me a tossed salad, but I told him I could just as easily get one from McDonalds, he asked who that was....very strange)

I think this is going to be hell organizing, but if we meet in the IRC chatroom some night, we can get everything worked out

Next week, maybe friday at 9 or 10, we should have a Quake 3 tournament, but I still need somebody to host the server, prefferably a pureserver to reduce lag, let me know if you can help, or if you're intrested, you can PM me or catch me in IRC

some small mmf games ive been playing latey are tremor3 tournament and tank wars online...those are some pretty fun multiplayer online games for the 4mb or less filesize hehe

Didn't I include enough sarcasm? LOL, btw, he never said that stuff, I'm just messing with him (I've also seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back about 20 times)

How are you guys doing for framerates in doom 95? I was getting a choppy gameplay at 37 FPS or so, I don't know if that would be a good LAN party game
