My Computer P4-2.4gh, 512mb ddr mar, 120gb hd, built in network card, Windows XP home. I connect using my apartment built in network. The apartment calls it an "ethernet network" and I use a T1 line? from my network card to the outlet. I know nothing about gateways, routers, mapping ports, ect.

I has been a month since I used WinMx. It used to work great, I could do as many simultaneous searches, downloads, and uploads as I wanted. Before I had 10 primary connections, 10+ downloads & uploads going, 15+ searches, all with great speed.

But now one search is slow to bring results. If i do more than one it takes forever. My downloads work great until I start trading with anyone. I'll start their file and it will upload at just over 0 bps, then the file I'm downloading from them does the same. Then a little while later, they both die. If someone starts uploading from my que, they just upload at a slow speed, but none of my downloads are slowed. It's only when I have a upload from the same person I am downloading from.

I've tried refreshing the connection, also i've tried using a secondary. Nothing works. The regular internet works fine for me. Also KaazaLite works terrific.

Any advice would be appreciated. Is there a program to test my connection for use with winmx? Or any mods I can do? I don't know alot about network connections.

Thanks in advance!!!

Are you running a firewall?

Sometimes, when a firewall asks for permission for an app, we say NO, and do not realize what was being asked.

If you are using Norton, Zone Alarm, or Sygate, make sure that Winmx is set to have access to any ports.
