Alright here we go again, another question to stump the crowds by... yep HawkBurn

Aight so me and my dad (im 16) are big comp junkies, anyway we had been using Intel wireless networking in which i connected directly to the net with my DSL modem, and then i thus served the signal through to my dad's computer and my cousin's laptop when she comes over.

Well they discontinued their software, good ol intel, and it didnt work well, so we went to the monopoly, Microsoft. I have nothing against them, theyre great, but anyway, we got a wireless base station MN-500 for my computer and a wireless adapter for my dad's comp.

So now I cant host games because our network has the damn proxy-like thing, it broadcasts my IP as 192.168.2.16 which is the network IP address to any game server indexers, so my server is not listed in GameSpy.

But in websites, such as when I reply to news here, it displays my real IP address, being dynamic as it is, it never disconnects, because my service is very reliable, dont ask.

So I found an option in the base station management to make my computer a DMZ, which is de-something zone, which is supposed to make me able to host games. Well that doesnt work.

Any other questions about the situation or solutions are welcome, and SORRY FOR THE LONG EXPLANATION!!

You should be able to set your ip to whatever you want in the network settings and then configure your firewall to accept that?

Much more information will come out of the woodwork in a minute. Hey, reinstall your chipsets lately?

I'm not familiar with the peticulars of the game software, but you should be able to enter an arbitrary IP at some point.

Given your behind a NAT firewall, the program isn't innately aware of your true IP. What you can do is get a free dynamic IP address. no-ip.com has a free service based on a little update program.

Regardless of which service you pick its a small matter to set them up and then put that dynamic IP 'myservername.no-ip.com' into the game server software.

And be sure tell your router to forward the nessisary ports to your machine.
