Palm OS vs. PocketPC

I'm looking at upgrading my PDA, but still am debating about going with a Palm based or a Pocket based device, so I have come to seek the advice of Zeropaid's legions of intelligent thechnophiles.

for the most part, pocketPCs are more expensive, but also more powerful. They look a lot cooler, are slightly larger than palms, (though this is changing) and have more support for multimedia. If you are just looking for a PDA for appointments, phone numbers, etc then just get a cheap Palm. If you want to play Tomb Raider and watch movies on your PDA than grab a pocketPC, if you can afford it. As far as the number of applications for each platform, Palm used to be the victor but they are mor or less equal now.

You should base you choice on your intended needs. As Yoblin pointed out, the PocketPC has support for multi-media. Palm does not.

If you want something for web browsing, email, address books, video files, mp3's, support for MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint, then choose the PocketPC.

If you don't need all the bells and whistles - if you only need and electronic address book, appointment calendar, email and notepad, then chooset he Palm.

Comparing a Pocket PC with a Palm is really like comparing two completely different things. You choice should be made on your needs and your budget.

A trip to your local computer shop for a demonstration and comparison of both producs would probably be a very good idea.

mostly since it is really just windows (pocketpc), i choose palm. i use my zire everyday, and i see no shortcomings. besides, these pocket pc's eat battery juice to no end...

i can use my zire for about 2 weeks, daily, before recharging the batteries. the best i have heard of a pocketpc doing is something like a day.

but, i just don't like microsoft, and refuse to use something filled with the crap of windows, cuz then i am just gonna be bill gates' bitch. he's just trying to get you into his monopoly.

i would get one of sony's new clie's, bc those look cool as shit.
