Maybe it has to do with the fact that recently there hasnt been any discussion at all about shareaza on many sites other than the shareaza. Also how they are being spammed and advertaised on other sites make this seem more like another advertaising blitz than anything else..

HA! Well I just posted that news, and I didn't even look at Slyck. I just had a sudden urge (after remembering the huge flame war in the BearShare Shareaza thread) to check gnutella2.com (pretty freaky eh?).

I dotn even understand what it is ? It means Shareaza's new "G2" protocol is now open in the way the original gnutella was, so anyone could develop a program to use it. If morpheus or one of the little k-'s would like to double the amount of files available to them they can tap right into everything being shared on G2 as well as G1 now.

No, Vinnie doesnt care about the specs. Only the fact that Mike stole the gnutella name. In fact limewire and xolox, among others also expressed their concern over the name (though not quite as colorfully as vinnie)

Huh? That was a totally baseless idiotic response.
They were released because the Shareaza community had organized a countdown campaign. People who were involved were prospective/interested developers, such as Gnotella's old developer (who may create "Gnotella2" with G2 support).
This isn't "Spam". If you don't like it, don't read it. I think the G2 specs are pretty newsworthy, thus the news regarding it is completely legitimate. ZeroPaid is a P2P news site, G2 specs being released is P2P News, if you don't want to read P2P news don't come to Zeropaid.

The point is, they will never stop "bitching".
First when G2 was released, they demanded the specs. Specs were released, then their demands moved onto the removal of the G2 name, then the G2 website (which is a pretty stupid demand IMO).
Now that the G2 specs are released, you can easily see that G2 is superiror to G1 (or anything else for that matter). G2 clients for Mac & Linux will come around. In addition, perhaps non-file sharing software for the G2 network. Interesting times are ahead, that's for sure. And they really don't involve G1 or Vinnie.

dverma75 why are you posting the whois info for bearsharesucks.com.. Are you suppose to be surprized that companies dont registers other domains which are similar to theirs because a ton of companies do that..
Anegna thinks that hes on the wave of the future that hes on the ground floor and if shareaza succeeds then he will benefit.. Which is pretty funny..
Really give it up your just a spammer who doesnt know half of what you go on about and you go around misleading people with your marketing that g2 is superior to g1 because the name says so and taking advantage of the technical ignorance of others to some degree by providing reasons in a somewhat technical manner that easily confuses the average user.
The questions about the domain name were brought up BEFORE mike even said he would post the specs.. No one demanded mike to post the specs he promised too, alot of people some of which are shareaza users demanded that mike keep his promise.
As he should have from the beginning and for you to try to say that everyone who was demanding that mike keep his word were out of line or wrong is pathetic and again just proves how pitiful you are.

Actually I talked to a developer and he said that Gnutella2 is just Gnutella with UDP protocol instead of TCP
There is nothing oh so special about it really.. that's the only MAJOR difference between it.. and frankly some say that UDP sucks...
The only other thing is querey keys(something like that)... we will see what happens in the future

The fact that he has to register that is pretty sad.

Cmon', it's "ANENGA" "AN EN GA". It means "ANime ENtertainment GAmes" (a website I own). I say your name right, at least you can provide that same courtesy :P
Whatever that sentence means :) Is english your primary langauge (no offense)?

Whatever you say.

Well, it looks like Mike isn't going to "give up the domain name". Looks like Gnutella2 is here to stay. So it's a waste of time arguing over it. And yes, everyone demanded that Mike post specs for G2 when it was released. It only moved onto "Surrender G2" when they concluded they won't use it regardless of how good/how much it will help G1.
As he should have from the beginning and for you to try to say that everyone who was demanding that mike keep his word were out of line or wrong is pathetic and again just proves how pitiful you are.
? (English Please). I was against the need for releasing specs because Mike's time would better be used on other things (such as improving Shareaza). The protocol will probably be changed somewhat in the near future (requiring extensive re-coding), and the specs are complex to where developing a client will be very difficult, so there really isn't a "high demand" for them to be here "NOW". Basically, they didn't need to be released so urgently, but people wanted them... so they're out.

It's a lot more than that. Developer? Developer of what? Gnutella?

UDP is unreliable at times. But G2 acknowledges those shortcomings and addresses the problem accordingly. UDP is essential since it is faster, TCP has too much overhead.

i'm glad they are finally out. now maybe some members of the gnutella community will stop whining like little girls *cough* vinnie *cough*
and even if he doesn't, and keeps whining about the specs and how non-gnutella they are, we can ignore him :)
but then again, i've been ignoring him and his crappy little client too.

Speed is not an arguement when searching is concerned. It doesn't really matter if a search takes 30 seconds or if it takes 45 seconds.
Which one of the two protocols (TCP or UDP) has the bigger overhead depends on the implementation. TCP has certain advantages over UDP, for example that you don't have to propagate hub addresses to the same extent. UDP on the other hand has the advantage that messages can be sent directly. I assume a hybrid protocol (using TCP to send queries and UDP to send search replies) could be the most efficient - although not necessarily the most secure solution.

The essential facts about this argument are widely available, here they are again from a trusted source:
Gnutella2 is a different protocol on a different network the only similarities is that gnutella2 is backwards compatible to some degree and shareaza "borrowed" the gnutella name for marketing purposes and to mislead people that it is widely supported by gnutella when its not. G2 continues to share with real Gnutella so long as I the Shareaza user don't go into the settings and tell it not to. It improves my search results by as much as 50% if I do. It never gets as fast as the fast track.
I'm really glad that Mike published the spec finally, I'm sorry to hear it might have kept him from working on the real thing but actually there have been several noticeable inprovements in the past 2 upgrades so it obviously didn't hurt.
Anenga I wish you would slow down sometimes. These long life-story respond-to-each-idiot-individually things will wear a person out. There will be plenty of people lined up to say Hey such-and-such a statement is just retarded, you don't have to do the whole job yourself. Try being honest about the weaknesses of things you like, especially with yourself, it adds credibility and a marketing scheme needs that desperately.
