I installed Kazaa Lite approx 5 weeks ago. I tried to delete everything from my old Kazaa installation, but my computer will not allow me to delet a few files/folders/things? saying that they are "in use" and cannot be deleted.

After a few weeks, my new Kazaa Lite quit downloading. I reinstalled Kazaa Lite and once again it downloaded (for two days). Now it has ceased to download again.

Also I have a icon on the desktop titled
"shortcut to download". I know not where this came from.

Has anyone out there experienced this, and is a simple solution?

Most likely a virus.

Try to open the recycle bin and the folder the file is in next to it, then try to drag and drop. Or try shift+delete (after you closed kazaa). Hmm.. or try to defrag the disk it's on, sometimes it has lot's of parts around the disk.

When you uninstalled the original KaZaa, did you scan for spyware/adware? The original KaZaa is full of it, and unless it is removed it could cause you problems.

If you use adaware you may want to check this thread out before you go crazy removing stuff.

One method that usually works for me is to boot into safe mode and then delete the offending files & folders. Press F8 during bootup to get into safe mode. Also run adaware or spybot.

I want to thank all the contributors for your informative replys. I have gained insight from you all. I installed AD Aware and Spybot and rid my files of hundreds of bad objects. I have not had any bad repurcussions from these actions as of yet. I was able to "trash" Kazaa after running the above software and Kazaa Lite is working now. After visually scanning the lists generated by Ad Aware, I can't recognize the good amongst the bad, or vice versa, so I have no idea which ones to put in the "ignore" list.

No one said learning on the go was going to be easy.

Thanks again!
