burning .avi to dvd

hey i downloaded a .avi file and i wanted to burn it to a CD-R so thati can watch it on my dvd player (ps2) which program should i use in order to burn the .avi to CD-R thanksfor the help.

nero will convert and make a vcd which can be watched on a lot of dvd players that support the vcd format however the ps2 does not support the vcd format

You might try this website. It gives a pretty detailed explanation how to do it. It also give you the program demonstrated to download. Hope this helps. I have successfully used it once. The file sizes of the avi's have to be fairly small to burn on to a CD-R as the program encodes it into mpeg format and it grows quite large.
