Downloads staying in "Incomplete Downloads"

Hello,

I am having trouble with finished downloads. Upon completion of a download, it does not move to my specified "downloads" folder. Everything (regardless of file-type) stays in Shareaza's premade "Incomplete Downloads" folder. I have read on Shareaza.com's FAQ section that this usually caused by the completed file being in use by another program (Media Player, Winamp, etc). That is understandable, but I am talking about days, even WEEKS later. After closing Shareaza, after rebooting my PC many times... the files still don't move from the Incomplete Downloads folder.

In addition to the files not moving, they retain the hash code at the beginning of the file name. Basically, what I'm stuck with right now when a download finishes is: Goto Incomplete folder, rename file to remove hash code, move file to wanted download folder.

Somebody please help me.

Are other people downloading from the incomplete file? If that might be the case then turn off the checkbox to allow the sharing of incomplete files and try a couple of downloads, if they move properly you have your solution.

Double check your "Incomplete Downloads" and "downloads" file paths. While this app MIGHT be able to rewrite the file to be under another folder, it will not move the file to another drive.


I wish for you to supply the following:
A) the EXACT paths for those folders

B) how may hard drives do you have?

Thanks Krell, I still can't get the stupid thing to stop hashing files again long enough to try other potential faults.

Seiken listen to Krell, moving only works on the same drive/partition because it is actually a "rename" that changes the longname in the FAT, that's why it should be instantaneous.

I was prepping for more info, thinking that we may be able to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

If he does indeed have two physical drives, then he can write and download to one, and share out from the other. This is less work on a single drive, and when a file is finished downloading he can move it to his "shared" drive.

I like this idea as it automatically defrags the file in the move, which is better for viewing, burning and sharing.

You two got it :)

Though the two paths are on the same hard drive, they are set to two different partitions: Incompletes go to C:\Program Files\Shareaza\Incomplete and Completes go to D:\

I guess I will just manually move them to my D:

Or you could just stick the incompletes on d: as well, and leave the sharing of them turned off? Depends on whether your goal is for the automatic stuff to work better or to end up with better safer file storage.

Altho you will defrag the file by moving it to a different physical space, the second partition, you will not see any other performance increases.

This is still not a bad idea, a little less work on the drive heads if the files are defragged.
