What is your definition of queue hogging and do you really care about the number or frequency with which someone queues your files?

I'm curious to see how you perceive these individuals? Benign? Annoying? Leeches?

Thanks for the responses.

i have mxmonitor set to ignore people that queue for more than 2 files from me, no need for one person to fill up my queue.

Ya same here.. I just use LeechHammer to let people download a file from and be able to queue up 2 more files... any more will be cancelled

How about local queueing? I'm not certain I understand how this works and how it would affect my postion in your queue if I remotely queue 1 file and locally queue a bunch of others. Please explain it to me.

Queued locally means that the file you are trying to download is from a user that you are currently downloading from at the moment....

Personally,i'm rather benevolent to someone who que's locally just once. If they all of a sudden throw in a dozen local ques,i will cancel all but one of them and do a "who is" and/or "browse". If no files are shared or just a' bunch of junk and they keep re-entering a mess of local que's they are gone bye-bye from me...

Maybe I didn't phrase the question correctly. Let's say I see UserX has an album (12 tracks) I'd like to get. He has 2 of 2 upload slots available. I have WinMX configured to let me download 1 file at a time from a specific user, so when I go to dl the album, 1 file is queued remotely and 11 are queued locally.

Someone else, at the same time and with the same settings, does the same thing. Let's say 4 such individuals do this. After I've dl'ed my first file and so has User1, who goes next? Is it me, since I sent my requests first or is it User2, since his first request is in the remote queue and not his local queue.

I'm sorry if that's not too clear either. I just want to know what action trumps what other action. I'm beginning to feel like those who take action against "queue hogs" are just fooling themselves and delaying the inevitable.

To me, it depends on WHAT they are queing.

A few MP3s . . . thats ok. A few music videos, probably not.

A few movies, YAH right, youll never see them back to back.

When I see someone queue 6 movies, I PM them, ask them if they are retarded, and if they know they are unrealistic.

I do understand that if they initially click on MY file, they may subsequently find other resources, so I will not always cancel them, I will just start someone else in front of them.

I have it in my preference to allow a maximum of one upload per person. If a person has in his preferences to only download a maximum of one per person, then it will take him much longer, because every time he gets a new file he has to go to the bottom of the queue. I recommend that you download all the files you want, and let the person set how many you get at once.

I don't have a problem with people queuing many of my files. That means they've taken a specific interest in the music in my collection, and they tend to be music lovers.

lmao.
yes....retarded would be the word.
i don't worry, because for the time it takes even just 2 or 3 users to get their songs........i'll be off anyhoot.
so if they want to sit in my queue til i get off....so be it.
if i were a faster connection, then i would just let them go in the order they're in.
unless of course the person queues up 10 songs from my files.....then, like Krell.....i'll start someone else.....if i'm watching the screen at the time.

in my preference i set it 2 1 upload per user so they can queue all they want they will not get all at once. and other pple can still done load
6 slots open
1 slot per user
sounds reasonable

edit: the only way i can see that is a problem is if all 6 slots have users with a wole bunch od queues
