WTF is Trance?

WhitePony

Let me be anal-retentive, here...

It is one thing to say that trance, techno, house, drumīnībass, etc., are all electronic music styles, and itīs another thing to totally mix them up.

I could pick Sephirothīs list and say that half of them arenīt really trance artists. DJ@zz@īs list, on the other hand, is 99% trance...

I mean, I could care less about "genres" but Iīm sure some people on Sephīs list would freak at being called "Trance". Even though all the people he mentioned are great at what they do.

If you really want to be throughly anal retentive alot of people mean techno but call it trance anyways and if you look at the station name its yobbo techno not trance in fact many people dont even care or are aware of all the sub-genres that get invented so whenever i see it i think electronic music.

Not to mention all the mislabeling and etc or artists and genres that its all one big confusing mess which in the end doesnt really matter.. Which is why i stopped caring about genres a while ago because there is really no source for accurate information and its too much work and a hassle to sort it all out because of confusion and conflicting info. Which if you do then great why dont you post some songs instead of being anal rententive.

Listen dude...I donīt give a flying crap about genres either. Today, I listened to the Queen of The Damned soundtrack, followed Nick Warrenīs new Global Underground CD. Shows how much I care about "genres".

I said what I said because, obviously, the guy could use some help. His programīs name has the word Techno, yet he asks for Trance. Heīs the one making the distinction, right? But since he needed some guidance, I thought "Hey, why should I only give him some songs? Why not link him up to a whole database of info on Trance?"

You, instead, named very good artists, but I highly doubt some of them would fit in this guyīs show...

Oh, and let me finish by asking you a question : when you talk to someone about a new band you just discovered and he asks "Oh really? Cool! What are they like?"...how do you answer that? Do you not categorize what you are trying to describe, either by comparing to another band or placing it into some category?

I agree w/ White Pony, but I see Seph's point, it was the firstguys mixup really, but if he does in fact want only trance artists then there is some need to be anal retentive, if we all just didnt give a fuck then where would we be. Electronic music is one of my favorites so I know quite a bit, but that does not mean I expect others to know the same, 'cuz I know others know way more about country or other stuff than me, 'cuz I just don't listen to it, Seph was just trying to give some input, bottom line is that the guy should clarify what it is that he really wants so we can help him out better

Its not your radio show...

I merely named some songs off my playlist your the one being a anal rententive here not me.. No need to get pissy and all defensive especially since you did started it..

Anyways im too busy to get into arguements over small minor details.. because i dont think its really worth it.

BTW my crystal ball is still in the shop.

well, i love techno/dance.
i don't know the diff, cept i would describe trance more like the stuff they play at raves and such........a simple rhythm or beat, repeated over and over.....hence.......putting u in a trance.
