I'll give it a try. I've always enjoyed the "Audiogalaxy" web-based interface and system. :shy

I never used AudioGalaxy, and I don't plan to use some second-rate clone either.
Something I found amusing, notice how the thread poster, and the second post in this thread are both "new" (both first ever post in fourms). The first sounded like some cheesy ad, the second was......well:

Thats just sad...

I don't believe anyone said anything about posting it as news, or anything else for that matter.
I merely made an observation of the "fanboy" tendency of the first two posters (a favorite pasttime of mine).
It's like Evil_Dweller_01 said, I "may" be "on" to "something", but who the fuck cares anyway? The people will decide what is good and what is not.

friendly place this-
I came on here coz there is a link to here from GLT's forum, no other reason.
I heard of GLT from the AudioGalaxy forum- I loved AG I still think it was the best ever music share site there has been, and ever since that lezzy had it shut down, I've looked for something close to it. Evolution P2P tried, but shouldn't have bothered-
GLT isn't bad for what is very early days, but it does need more users.
Hence my post.
Here I am just a guy that liked what he saw and thought he would do the developer a favour and post here.
Is that not the idea?
Trusting bunch arn't you?

It was too bad AG was shutdown. It was one of my favorite networks. I have been waiting for a good clone and so far I haven't found one. I will try it this GLT Poliane. Hope it is better than the others so far.

I will try this, but to be honest I don't see it is going to be any better than Evolution p2p. The main two things that all clones need to do is they need to attract more users somehow and they need to keep updating and advertising the program.
If this happens then we might get something like (and really program wise), better than AudioGalaxy.

TFoS, You're right,
what often happens is that people try something brand new like this, see its only got 10/20 users and then bugger off, flame it, only to return if it gets popular.
I've had it for about a week now and its great to see that the creater "GustavoLuiz" is constantly trying to iron out any bugs and is keeping a close eye on its forum (it bows well for its future)
They also are constantly trying to tweak some more speed off the servers, so, when its quiet in the early hours it somtimes goes down for 20 minutes.
Other than that speed of d/ls and u/ls are quite impressive.
If people do go for this, please give it a chance. Its seems very ram lite, so you could just leave it running in the background even if you're not using it, like we all used to do with AG.
After all, with file-sharing it really is the case of being "more the merrier"

i see nothing wrong with trying to get some users for a p2p app.
this is a p2p forum.
i think we r all intelligent enough to know the diff between shameless plugging of other forums and personal interest links.
if it's done with finesse, then i would like to know about these things.
i don't know the protocol, but couldn't he have contacted the news mod and asked if it could have been posted there?
i mean this is called the "File Sharing News" thread, eh?

GLT Poliane is young and it is not perfect, but for someone who loved Audiogalaxy, this is a good place to go.

Why don't we all just start using this program and see with a big user base if it could be as good as AG - and I think the answer to that is yes. AudioGalaxy was never a particularly amazing program but with the amount of content it managed to get, it was brilliant.

Does anyone know the new features of this version?
Do I need to uninstall the old version first (I had to do this with Piolet 1.05 as it made my computer crash under XP)

This version is necessary because the host has moved from France to Argentina, and it is more stable.
I think you should uninstall the old version (this is no really hard to do :wings )

A new version (2.06) is now available.
In this version:
* DATABASE with musics was RESETED - Now the part of program that choose and format the "more relevant" informations (title and artist) works better,
* Lower use of CPU when using a speed limit,
* System Anti-Leech is running! If you don't share more than 25 musics there will be restrictions for you! - But if you are a new user and REALLY not have mp3 in your computer... then there is a option for you,
* Decrease in 10KB in size of program,
* Others minors changes
And there will be more improvements in the next release.

I tried it awhile back and it has a simple interface like AG but the downfall was there was only like 10 users online and none of them shared my genre of music tastes.
It does have its potential if it could get the millions of user that AG had but then the download speeds would probably be low cause the server couldnt handle that many users.

GLT looks good to me. I always did like Audiogalaxy, and since it's a new program, I can understand that it doesn't have too many files yet, but I'll join. It needs more users to get on AG's level.

we've been here before....anyone remember mediaseek?
I may use this when it gets a sizeable enough userbase to have something like the quality and selection of mp3 audiogalaxy had.
Ive got a feeling i may have a long wait.....

Yes, it is a crasher program. So far.
Even the new version 2.11 has crashed for me.
The old was terrible ..
Otherwise I have had some hope for this program.
Maybe I was too optimistic???
Some reasons for NOT bother with this program:
1. Not stable.
Might improve, but there should have been enough time
to debug by now.
2. Debugging & faultfinding is difficult.
Error logfile uses --- portuguise --- to produce log!!!!
Only portuguise can understand what did happen.
This is very strange.
All programming language that I know of uses english.
It has been so since the day of first "Basic" "Pascal" "Java".
And to use other language is stupid.
3. Lack of users.
This makes the website seem somewhat "Dead".
And of course limits your possibilities to find mp3 you looking for.
4. No real documentation.
A dead link says "Beginners tutorial".
It has been under construction for more than half a year.
5. No work seems to be done to improve website
and make it better for old or new users.
I have made several suggestions for improvement
of this website at the GLT Poliane forums.
The people in charge does not come to more,
than to say: "Good idea. I like that".
You think they will introduce those new ideas for improvement,
but nothing happens.
Neither they seems to like critics.
But good critical feedback from users,
is very valuable if you want to develop something
that users will like.
If everybody just say "Everything is good",
nothing will change for the better.
Well, this is my findings so far.
Things might change.
But I have not much hope, I'm afraid.
About GLT Poliane.

thank you

@halojoy:
I read your comments in the poliane forums, 1st of all who do you expect to be heard if you put the SAME comment in ALL forums available.
2nd, the webpage its not a priority, bringing stability to the program is.
The program has never crashed in my pc, even since the first version i got.
So ok its not perfect, but just because the programmer doesn't think your comment is priority that doesn't mean he doesn't hear your suggestions...
