Go here (http://www.xehas.org/forum/) and find something that says "ZNES Board". Try you're question there.

"Q: How do I use Game Genie codes?

A: Load the ROM you want to use Game Genie codes with. Go to the "Cheat" menu and then to "Add Code". In the black space next to "Enter Code" type the Game Genie code. Don't forget to add the "-" and don't put any spaces. Then in the black space next to "Description" type what the code does in as little words as possible. And then click on "Add". If ZSNES won't let you add the code then that means the code you put doesn't work. If ZSNES accepts the code then that means it works. When you finish entering the code(s), go to the "Game" menu and reset the ROM. Now you can play your ROM with the Game Genie codes you entered! Cheat! Cheat! Cheat!"

If you have more problems than this go to the forums at zsnes.com

To learn more about ZSNES as well as how to use other emulattors go to this site: http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/

Personally, I think that cheat codes are worthless (especially in the absurdly easy-yet fun Super Star Wars). Just set the "rewind" button to the backspace for an easy mnemonic device and when you die or screw-up you can go @3 seconds back in time. This allows the game to still have at least some difficulty yet will allow you to keep on playing until you do the required action correctly.

Game On!

who needs game genie codes? zsnes (and all good emulators) have "cheat search" functions

you can go 2 ways-

exact number search(you have 3 lives, enter 3 into the search, kill one off, enter 2, then you will continue narrowing the search until you find the address of the "lives" value, change it to a godawfully high number)

higher than/lower than/equal to search (this is useful in games with lifelines without onscreen numeric values--start search, get hit, enter "lower than last", or use a heal spell etc enter "higher than last", or do nothing "equal to last" this will narrow it to the address of the variable)
