Ok it doesn't matter if the programs are using the same network, I would just like to see a general view of which programs are being used most by the ppl on this forum.

I mostly download games and movies and my top 5 is:

1. Emule
2. Edonkey
3. Overnet
4. Kazaa lite
5. Imesh

Hmm, well, I know a lot of people like imesh, I am curious how it is better than Kazaa. I mean, it uses the same network doesn't it? K++ lets you do unlimited search more, and imesh doesn't have that, so basically, it's not as good...?

for the RIAA trolls who infest this board, threads like this are heaven - they get a better idea of which apps to 'try' and take out.

admittedly, they will never succeed, but they do succeed in creating hassle and wasted time for the Authors of these apps. and we owe the authors a lot...

Oh come on Overdo, dont tell me that you are into Kazaa!

I personally like Emule and am starting to become a fan of Earthstation V.

Emule has a nice selection and less leachers while Earthstation5 has kick ass speeds and takes care of hiding my ip.

My most used P2P apps:

1. KaZaA++ (Everything)
2. eMule (Music Vid's)
3. WinMX (Music)
4. Morpheus/Shareaza (Everything)
5. Piolet (Music)

But I hardly ever use my last 2, I only use them when I can't find the file I want on the other 3 networks.

1. ) KaZaA Lite ++
2. ) WinMX

I still do not trust ESV enough to even install it on my system and I get what I need from the Fasttrack and WinMX networks just fine.

1. Kazaa Lite ++
2. Gnucleus
3. IRC
4. Lend&Borrow (thanks collideous for pointing that one out, I forgot I do use it. It's really a great network. The RIAA isn't sniffing around in it, good speeds, no viruses, multiple sources, my IP is very hidden and with enough friends you can usually find anything)

Theinfamousone

K++ (for TV shows and music)
DC++ (exclusively for new movies)
Lend and borrow hard drives (I've got a few friends that I trade hard drives with, we just bring them over, and dump 30 gigs of videos or whatever, that's the real fun way to P2P)

All the P2P programs I have installed are in my signature. I haven't gotten any files from any programs other than eMule and Xnews in a week or so.

here are my top 5 picks. starting with number 1

piolet (decentralized, large selection, easy to use interface)
private ftp sites (new albums, tv shows, games, applications)
kazaa++ (mostly gameboy advance roms)
ares (starting to grow in user base, might use it more when there are a bit more users)
shareaza (my portal to gnutella)

Ah yes I tried the good ol IRC a few days ago again. It still sucks because either you have to kiss someone's ass to get in some group, or you have to be in a channel where the text goes way too fast to even read 1 line. Also you can't search for certain stuff (there probably is a program for it) and there are way too many servers and billions of channels with crappy names and shit. No thanks I'll stick to Emule where I type in what I want and get it and not have to search for an entire day and millions of channels just to get 1 download :)

1. WinMX (movies & MP3s, faster than eMule)
2. eMule (for the "official" sharereactor movie releases)
3. IRC (very rarely, since you can't find rare stuff there)
4. KDX

1.) WinMX exclusively.

Andy_TRN

Ok then I'm going to try WinMX one more time, but if it still sucks I'm going to uninstall it again (I used WinMX 2 years ago or so)

Umm, News Flash: we tried peace already. We tried talking, we tried negotiation, we kept extending the deadline 7951261 times. Saddam doesn't want peace! He's not a peaceful man. And if it weren't for countries like the US, he'd release his bioweapon shit on you, too! Wakey wakey.

(Not being mean, just trying to prevent truth decay.)

With that out of the way, back to the issue at hand. I like Filetopia, Soulseek and (past tense) Audiogalaxy. I can't think of any others I've used that are worth a mention.
