Hey there guys, I have installed on my pc Sygate Personal Firewall, and I have a question about this:

Almost every time I connect to the internet there is this system32 is trying to connect to www.filenavigator.com and of course I don't give it access.

Somewhere I was reading this is the result from a virus.

My computer has been scanned so many times and it shows I have no virus detected on my system.
Same thing I have ran so many times Ad-aware and Spybot and same thing.

No, I don't have any problems running my Windows xp but I am just wondering about it.

How do I now if I can safely delete this entry from my pc.

Please, any advise?

file navigator is an old school client if IRC. rapigator and napigator were based off the original file nabigator program...again, iirc. so it is quite possibly you caught yourself a trojan or some kinda tricky .vbs file...

have you ever used the open nap network in the past?

also, what is the exact message you get? and this happens wheneer you connect to the internet? sounds like a shady something to me

Well, I once had mIRC and also I had used NapMx for Winmx, but I have deleted them all already.

I even dug out from my system ,registries made by this applications, so what I am saying is yes I did a clean uninstall of these products.
What makes me think this is a trojan residing in my memory.

And yes, everytime I open my browser IE, my firewall prevents me of this:
c:/windows/services32.exe is trying to connect to filenavigator.com using port................etc.

I have once gave it access, but nothing bad has happened.

Since I read this might be a result from a virus I have set up my firewall to never give access to the internet to this thing.

Well, let's see if this info. helps some more.

Yeah, filenavigator has gator trying to install right on the load of thsi website, spybot blocked me from going anywhere past that

have you ran spybot with the most updated detections? same with a/v

Yes, I have ran Spybot up to date, same thing as Ad-aware up to date and Antivirus up to date.

Is only my firewall that is telling me that system32.exe is trying to connect to filenavigator.com

I think I can just go and use regedit and delete this entry from my pc. I won't do this until I read more comments.

Do NOT delete it, its a key system file

ok, I won't delete it, then I would just set my firewall to never give it access to filenavigator.com

Thanks for all comments and solutions to this prob.

Go into C:\Windows\System32\ and just delete the file COMCTL32.DLL
That should fix you up.

It's the communications controller that keeps the urls that it's trying to connect to.

Then it won't attempt it anymore.

DO NOT delete this file.... - CCS

Thanks to grab_grab, janet, moonmann, and the other that used my thread to not help me but to joke around.

Well, I guess that is just you.

Thanks Phalkon for your support.

Bye.

Hey you cant knock them, it wasnt their fault your thread got undermined.

If anything blame the zero pains.

Youve been very very busy with new softwares etc, this past quarter, and so you may want to prepare to make a fresh start before long anyways. Its always better to do it because you WANT to, not because you have to.

In the mean time, just block it with your firewall.

If I think somebody is asking for help, then my most obviously attitude would be to help him/her if I kwew how. If not I would just not answer at all.

Yes, Krell that is what I decided to do at the end.

See, I only needed to know if this system32 was a virus file or similar. For my bad luck I am no computer engineer or else.

Anyways, thanks for the ppl that tried to help.
