Your download speed depends on the other persons connection. It has nothing to do with your own limits, unless you are downloading from HTTP. On Emule you have to be patient and if you stay connected for several hours for one file you get about 20 - 30 kb/s. Anyway it's better to download the stuff you are looking for at once, then to wait for ages until the file finally appears on kazaa with just one source. Emule still has tons of files which Kazaa does not have, so it's worth every minute waiting.

That of course depends on what you are looking for. (games in my case)

Or you could go to http://www.speedguide.net and download one of them tweaking patches to speed up your connection. By the way I use version 0.26a of Emule because it is more stable.

Oh and sheehs, you must have a huge hard disk hehe. I envy you.

Delete the file C:\WINDOWS\USER.DAT and then reinstall eMULE.

Wouldn't that destroy everything you have ever installed?

Giltch press alt-f4 now for a special message from me

The icons that kinda look like a thermometer are rankings for files. I think a green one means excellent, yellow means good, etc. The bug icon is not good. It means that the file has been determined to be a fake.

Go to the eMule plus forum for detailed explanation of all the preferences, settings, etc. for eMule Plus. Here is the link:

My top speed on Emule was 88,4 kb/s so far. I have an average of 15 kb/s on Emule. I said it before and I say it again, only use Emule for large files, then you have a major advantage.

Yes, it means STOP following the advice of well meaning people.

It's doubtful that you needed to mess with your settings in XP at all. From now on, when you think something isnt working well, or you have less than optimal performance, dont RUN to the nearest software where you think a tweak will solve you ills.

First, gather your facts, ask questions like " Does my O/S and DSL allow me to download at the rated speeds?"

Then learn what tests will answer that for you. Such as dslreports.

Unless you are REALLY versed in what the MTU setting does, and even more specifically, what it is in XP, then you can (as you have stated) actually make your situation worse. If you cant get it straitened out, consider using a Restore Point, or I will help you import the correct registry settings from my own machine.
