I'm using Norton Personal Firewall, and these alerts are often of the trojan horse variety. Since I have the firewall, I'm not concerned - but has WinMX had big problems with attackers?

trojan horse scans are common place on the internet. its not really anything to do with what p2p app u use. i just ignore them. even if u didn't have a firewall they wouldn't do anything. they'd just tell the hacker u ain't got a firewall.

But I didn't get nearly as many before WinMX. And it says people are trying to connect to known trojan ports.

MVDU - I also have Norton Personal Firewall, and I occasionally experience messages about remote computers trying to connect to me. It's only happened a few times. What "Alerting Level" are you set to? I'm on Medium - that may or may not matter.

My alerting level is set to low.

When you get these alerts, is Winmx running, or are you exited?

I have WinMX running.

Are you on primary? it could be users trying to connect to you for a list of files, or browsing you, or trying to download

If you got this with winmx off, that would be bad, IMO I wouldn't worry

I'm on secondary. I actually haven't gotten an alert in at least a day - longest I've gone in a while. I'm worried only because it said they were trying backdoor ports known for trojan attempts. With WinMX off, alerts were very rare.

sorry i will stop scanning u on winmx.
nah jk u must be getting alerts for incoming connections from other users on winmx.
you need to set proper permissions for the winmx program, allow it full access to the net. That will stop the alerts.

That seems to be working so far - thanks.
