Hi
Just installed WinMX 3.22. I have been a Kazaa Lite and Morpheus user before and whished to experiment with WinMX now.
I have a pretty desent machine (Athlon 1800+ and 512RAM on XP pro) and have seen that WinMX is a resource hug. The only thing that I have modified is the WinMX Peer network setting, I have raised the allocated bandwidth to 15 KB/s out 22.5 KB/s in. I am on 512/128 cable and that is why I have raised this value. Anyway the program is eatung amost 20% of my CPU cycles. Is this normal?
I really apreciate some advice for setting it up in the best way.
I have downloaded also Gator2MX v1.2, but have not installed it yet. Is this program good? I am really beginner in WinMX.

Thanks a lot for the help.

If you are running connecting with a primary connection to winmx it will tax your resources significantly. If it becomes too much of pain you can always switch to secondary connection. primary connection gives you a more stable connection, but in return part of your resources will be utilized to run the winmx network.

DON"T install Gator. It's just a bunch of spyware crap you don't need on your computer.
