edonkey is extremely slow. you just have to get used to it.

leave it for a while and it will eventually begin to pick up speed.

ive been using edonkey and now emule for a while now, and although downloads can take a long time (sometimes days) they always get there in the end, and the quality is excellent.

you just need patience!

Althoug a high id looks good for the server to gain searches. u better have a LOW ID to download faster. So change it back when you have time. My speed improve from like 3K to over 52K on all instances

Ignore snipes.

Set you upload speed to about 80% of the maximum your connection allows eg on 512/128 cable or adsl set the upload limit 11 or 12.

Emules use a credit system. When you are downloadin a large file, your download gets faster after you have uploaded some parts of the file to other peole who are downloading the same file.

Wow... talk about idiots

Anyway, as people said just be patient and you will definitely get your files AND be happy with them. You get very good rewards with emule..

I have been using it for a LONG time and I must say that once the wait is over, you are impressed

so, if it takes say 2 days to download a movie on eDonkey2000 and only 2 hours or less with Kazaa/Kazaa Lite, why even bother with eDonkey?

I decided to give eDonkey a try and it is terribly slow, but I don't particularly mind because I have a fast constant connection.

and, since obviously you guys know more about eDonkey/eMule than I, which one would ya'll recommend?

also, an off topic question, where do I find this ID number? I was reading through the FAQ and Documentation on their site and I wasn't able to find it...

The value of emule on the edonkey network is the quality of files that you cannot find anywhere else.

If you can find for example a movie on fasttrack/kazaa that you want. get it. but fact is emule has files you will not find anywhere else.

use the web based search engine to find what you might want to download. http://jigle.com

as for the id, when you first connect to your server. look at the dialogue box called server info. your id will flash by. so pay attention. you can scroll back and check it if you wish.

Standard emule or emule plus.

The current verson of mule plus 1c has a freeze bug they are working on now.
Version 1b is ok or there will probably be a new relase in a few days.
