o.k. from these three choices, evidence eliminator, cyberscrub, and bcwipe, which one, if any of these, does anyone prefer, and why?

The only one I've tried from that list was Evidence Eliminator. Personally, I don't think it's too great, because it doesn't have advanced erasing algorithms as some other disk cleaning programs. Therefore, your deleted data maybe actually be recoverable. Also, they do some pretty shady advertising. If you go to their site, it always has a message that there will be internet monitoring in your area soon. I simply don't trust them.
Acronis Privacy Expert is what I use currently. It has plenty of cleaning options and a wide variety of file deletion algorithms. From the Russian standard to the wonderful Gutmann algorithm. Also, it's pretty fast.
