Has anyone out there Dl what they think is a crack/key for something and when they get it , its a portol.

you get a blue moon shape on the bottom right hand corner of your computer,
you get 6/7 icons on your screen,
your browersa are taken over,
and it wont let you delete it that easy because when you go to the seach in start and key in portol ot music seach it comes up with nothing.
When you go to the add and remove that also comes up with nothing.

what is this and how do you reconise it before you dl it and how do you get rid?

Try to stay away from stuff with smiley face icons etc. most real cracks (in my experience) have a big X or say ORION on them or something more serious. Other than that, I dunno.:mellow

Also - never open a "crack" that doesent have an icon at all.

Isn't this the SECOND time you've gotten a bad file from a "crack"? you aren't learning here! lol

Here is what I would do, update your virus deffinitions, then do a full scan of your pc

Then update Spybot (which i think you still have installed from the last time you got a similar dialer, if you need it, go to security.kolla.de ), after spybot gets all the updates, do a full scan, it should find a dialer

And DON'T KEEP GETTING THESE! you're lucky it even told you what was happening, some just go in stealth, handing out your information behind your back to people online

you have what is referred to as a "browser highjacker"

use spybot search & destroy, or ad-aware to fix it

then, don't download any more crap .zip or .exe's from kazaa

the next time it could be MUCH worse!

Ok i will put you all straght, i have lookd for cracks or what ever you want to call them 4 times in my life, yes i have had bad luck and got these music search thing twice now.

I normal look for a crack if i dl some thing for a 8 year old neice to play with not for my self very oftern,

If i dl some thing i normal go for one with the crack with it.

I'm not like most of you that make money out of what you dl i just like the odd mp3 for my car and some software to keep my computer safe.

I dont go for movies or games,
I'm really sorry you don't like me so i will keep off these boards from now on, and go to some more friendly ones.

but really that is funny how can someone download a crack and not make sure what they getting?
first off all downloading something from the net with these file types will cause havoc on your puter.

get a good spyware blocker, a firewall so you dont let the spyware make outbound tcp connections.
get a good antivirus program and most of all.
go download free software.
lol people should really consider this.

sometimes seeking alternative software first that is free is a good idea.
so next time someone asks me for a crack, i am going to link them to a free alternative.
