When i start to DL a file (after waiting 30mins-2hours) it will go at a moderate speed of 50-100kbs....But when i watch the 'Volume downloaded' its going up as if it was dl'ing at 1kbs.....Im Using Shareaza...Wth is up with this?

Why does Gnutella suck? Well, thats a very good question. Perhaps some of the Gnutella developers can shed some light on that.

50kbps = 6.25KB/s, so it should be count up by 6 or 7 every second. Why Gnutella sucks? I don't think anyone knows why. But I'd say it's because it never got a good name back when Napster was around, then when Napster died, people used it and it was completely leech ridden, then Kazaa became popular and it was way better at the time than Gnutella and people just forgot about Gnutella. Then Kazaa grew exponentially.

It connects to both and no matter what outdated statistic that one of the shareaza fanantics want to throw about user downloads or their guess of how many users on "gnutella2" most of the stuff comes from Gnutella which the main part of gnutella2 is searching plus a bunch of new messages and etc that are suppose to replace gnutella as for transfers it wasnt changed that much from anything shareaza was allready doing on gnutella before.

It may be because Shareaza lets the users easily configure their upload speed to as low as 1kbps. I had this problem with a user last night who was downloading many files from me at 200-400 kbps but I waited endlessly for 1 file from them at 1-2 kbps. I did not want to ban them because they were the only user found with the file I wanted, but eventually I got tired and did ban them. Amazingly, about 30 seconds after I did Shareaza found another user with the same file. This points to certain weirdness in Shareaza's "global search".
