Please forgive me if I have posted to the wrong forum. This is my first post and I have only joined in the last hour or so.
I have just downloaded Myster for my Mac. The OS of the Mac in question is 9.2
When I have tried to do a search it always freezes up the computer.
The computer is moderately buggy already and sometimes freezes on its own, however it definitely looked like trying to do a search using Myster was the cause of the freezing.
What I was trying to search for is an MP3 of the song "Man of Constant Sorrow." I think the search line looked about like this: man of constant sorrow
My ISP is AOL, if that makes a difference.
Any suggestions?
I might just get rid of Myster and download Limewire, but Limewire is a very big program that would take about half an hour to download.

I don't do any file-sharing on a Mac (using a Mac for work), but one thing that I would try first is to give Myster more memory.

And welcome, glad to see a Mac user around.

lol... somebody couldn't handle the superior programs available. lol.

my advice: buy osx jaguar for $130. if you ain't gonna do that, you deserve many of the problems you are having. no offense. but os9 is horrible. and i love apple.

trust me, spend the money, and just get osx. screw pc's bro, do not make a bigger mistake.

If you do want a different p2p program, try limewire.
www.limewire.com, supports macintosh computers, and u will be able to connect to the gnutella network.

I think that Mac purposely made 9.2 very buggy so that people would have to upgrade to OSX. Otherwise they are just dumber than sticks for making their OS MORE buggy than the version before it. They've been making it for 15-20 years or so (just guessing there), and you'd think that they would have figured it out by now. Just my opinion.

My friend has a Mac, he had OS 10 (not 10.2) and had real problems with it. Which is understandable being that it is based on Unix and bascially a complete overhaul. So, then he had to buy 10.2 (he's pretty rich) and I guess he's doing ok now. Although I was at his house on Sunday and his internet was messed up (both IE and Safari), IE was only displaying half of the pictures and taking forever to load stuff, and Safari would only download half the webpage and the rest was cut off.

He also lags a lot when we play StarCraft, which is pretty sad being that he has the same ISP as me (AT&T broadband) and his computer is over a year newer than mine.

I ditched Myster for Limewire, which seems to work great.
It actually worked when I tried to do a search.
Something strange that I noticed: I retried my search on Myster and substituted underscores for spaces in the song title and it said it checked more servers before it froze up.
I have since then deleted Myster and downloaded Limewire.
Thank you to everyone for your help and advice.

Limewire is not exactly a beaming example of P2P either though. Try eMule or DC and there's a lot more users and content.

the sims was a great game. now its a little over-commercialized. and i need all the expansion packs.

but it was fun. build a fence around your guy, then kill him. hell yea. i took so many pics of the grim reaper. hmm, makes me wanna play the game again.

lol.

anyway, i will admit that mac doesnt have all the games that pc has, but you can find something for everybody... i wanna try one of the pmacs with dual 1.42ghz cpus and vpc5. that'd probly work real well.

anyway, if you live off games, buy a winbox (ugh) but if you do everyday productivity type things, like, photoshop or office, get osx. now.
