View Full Version : Ads When Not On Kza. . . Normal?

I've been getting those annoying grey & blue Kazaa popup ads even when Kazaa isn't even running. I've looked into the popups here in this forum, but I haven't heard anyone mention getting them when not running Kazaa, so is my situation unusual? I regularly run Spybot, and always delete anything it locates, so I don't think it's adware. . . and I ran a virus scan, with nothing found.

Any other advice/suggestions? Thanks. I'm using Kazaa Lite ++ v.2.1.0.

How about posting a Screenshot...it sounds like the
Messenger Service Popups.

I'll try to get a screenshot, but it doesn't happen very often. "Messenger Service Popups" sounds familiar. . . are they related to Kazaa in any way?

If it helps, they often only have a paragraph or two of text and an 'OK' button. . . :S

are you running windows XP? if so run "services.msc" (without the quotation marks) from the start menu. then scroll down till u see messenger, and change its status to disabled. Note that the messenger service is not related to windows messenger or MSN messenger.

for a list of all the other services u can safely disable or change to manual visit this site here (http://blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm)

The guide here (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,,5155,00.asp) may also make useful reading for you.

Thanks for the tip, overdo. I've disabled Messenger via the method you described. I'll let you know if I get another popup.
