School is for freakin learning things. All the moral, sex and politics and religion should be kept the hell out of the way. Maybe the kids would learn something besides who's country or god has a bigger dick.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Student leaders at a California college have touched off a furor by banning the Pledge of Allegiance at their meetings, saying they see no reason to publicly swear loyalty to God and the U.S. government.
The move by Orange Coast College student trustees, the latest clash over patriotism and religion in American schools, has infuriated some of their classmates -- prompting one young woman to loudly recite the pledge in front of the board on Wednesday night in defiance of the rule.
"America is the one thing I'm passionate about and I can't let them take that away from me," 18-year-old political science major Christine Zoldos told Reuters.

damn, once I got to college, I never had to say the pledge again. I'm surprised any colleges still do!

Heh.
A lawsuit looms.
I was talking to my co-worker the other day. It seems his neice had come home from middle school early the other day, and quite distraught. Well, while she was in school, she had a subsitute teacher for the day. Now, these are people of faith, but their faith does not allow celebration or flag salutes etc. (no they are not Jehova's Witness')
So, the class has the pledge... for upcoming veteran's day or whatever. My co-worker's 13-year old neice does not stand, as is the belief of her and the family. The substitute decides to read this as teenage rebellion or something, and decides to berate the child in the classroom about how "stupid" it is that she doesn't stand for the pledge, "this is America, and if you don't like it you should go back where you came from."
Hmmmmmmmm......
Why should that matter? Well, you could always consider that the 13-year old girl is black.
Yeah.
And the school wanted to brush the incedent off.
Fuck the school.

I would have obeyed the teacher by leaving the classroom and gone home.

I said that in regards to the idea that this guy was trying to keep his child in the dark about organized religion.
Democracy does not mean mob-rule. Just because the majority of people in America may be christian (or some form thereof) doesn't mean that the ideas, ideals, customs, and religions of the minority should be ignored or disrespected.
Democracy in its pure form is actually mob rule.
Think of this: There a 3 people, 2 men, 1 woman.
The 2 men vote to rape the woman, she votes no.
She gets raped, thats democracy.
We live in a representative republic here in America. We vote on leadership to take different offices in government, and hope that they will do as we think they should ( hence they received our votes ). The majority of Americans are christians, so the majority of leadership is going to have these values.
