hey !!!
"****Like all new programs, their will be bugs and we will fix them. We will listen and improve our system to the needs of the users. Without the users, we have NOTHING and we know who the KING is."

This sounds to me a lot like the so called RapidRoad... and Kabair has the same kind of reply that used to have "DogWard" ... I'm really begining to wonder if RapidRoad hasn't gone "EarthStation".... Just another name to blind their dark past...

WTF ????

Ahh but another thread on ES5 and Rapid Road. Your about a month late and 3000 threads short my friend of the hype! But I must ask...How was the vacation?

Its already boring. If they come out with something, good. If not, the jokes on them. They invested the money on domains, addresses, and waisted their precious time designing a flash chat basically all to say "I like to play games on forums"

Whatever it be BARE IT & WE'LL SHARE IT!

Either way I am not real excited about es5. Either it is just some more vaporware like RapidRoad or it comes out. And to be honest if it does come out, I don't think it will live up to its hype. But only time will tell what happens. I don't think it is a good sign that they are not updating their webpage though and they have missed two deadlines already.

The Hunter

From all reports I got all it did was cause things to lock up, and crash. If they want to send me a beta to test, i will be glad to do so.

Thats what I'm thinking a bit. It may be real and not a hoax, but it may not be as good as it says.

Ken! Such language! You're turning into me!:shy

Seriously, though, overhyped crap is just as bad as overhyped vaporware. I doubt ES5 in a completed form will ever see the light of day.

Everyone get hyped up!!

Here's an Actual screenshot from ES5:

es5.net earthstationv.com earthstation5.com etc.

I've tested it out (not officially, just managed to 'find' a copy from 'somewhere'!!) ;)

The chat seems to be website based rather than a real integral part of the client. The homepage you see from within the client is http://home.es5.com/. You can't private message users (or planets as they call 'em) directly from what I can see but the program does kinda link to NetMeeting. The web-based forums aren't up as of last night. The search function and downloads seem to be working though which is of course very important. Thing is, supporting high-speed connections on a hoard of proxies isn't going to be cheap and despite that I could still get users real IPs. Even so, to support all proxies will cost money.. begs the question... where will the funding be coming from?? I'm not even going to start guessing 'coz I'm sticking to facts rather than speculation. All in all... it's **okay**, seems to do the job but some parts essentially link to other websites or loading up netmeeting rather than being truly an integral part of a single application. It needs to be hammered by 100+ users and a load of refinements all over the place, it's a start... and judging on the fact the downloads worked, it's a reasonable start... but ES5 crew.. whoever they may be... have fallen foul of the p2p developers biggest mistake... hyping stuff too early.

It's real, but so far... It's not worth a quarter of the hype it's developers have been pushing it with... at least not for a month or two yet. Good luck to them though, I'm not bashing them, any genuine p2p effort is appreciated... I'm just trying to inform people on how I found it and that it's still a little early for people to swamp the network. :;)

Most importantly though... Searches and transfers worked for me.. so.. at least it's not bullshit!!

Peace!

I'm guessing this is the reason why ES5 hasn't really released anything yet, its still too early. I believe a little more time will help ES5.
Btw, method i sent you a pm

So the intro page that METHOD introduced shows that they are probably still in the creative process.

I think that they will come out with something. Otherwise, why go through all the trouble?

Question is WHEN?

Are we still talking about this! If I say something positive, I get rashed for SPAM, if I say something negative, It would sound misleading or even deceptive.

I think that they released a shitty beta only to show there that they have a program - but dont accuse me of defending them.

WTF did they turn to the forums to hype the shit when they werent ready? They know that we are the worst type people in the world to hype a program simply because most of us know a thing or 2 about P2P, and moreover, we all know what to look for, or what NOT to look for in a program.

Even if its a good, or an EXCELLENT program, ZP UTC and the other forums will always be critical. I mean thats why we hang out on forums. To find the holes, to find what is wrong, not right. It simply doesnt make sense why they picked us to advertise or hype a program cause in the end of the day, most of the bad or buggy shit will be exploited by us.

Either they got a kick ass program that is fool proof (I've yet to see a program like that cause all programs have bugs that are yet to be explored) or their marketing techniques are a joke.

If they got the money for Routers, Servers, Bandwith, Lawyers, and programmers, then how come they didnt just advertise their shit via a recognized advertisement company and save us the pains?

I wonder, but cant come up with anything. I hope for them that they do indeed have a kick ass program that can answer the questions in this post!

I kinda figured that it would be more for security and less for speeds. Even kabair said it wouldn't have real fast speeds. I don't really care about the security though but I am sure most people do. I will still use it mainly because of its other features and I think it will be a great app. I also hope it improves and maybe the speeds will improve also. Also, meth, maybe the reason you didn't have fast speeds is because you did not download dircetly have off the server, maybe you instead downloaded from somebody else.

Jackl
March 4th, 2003, 02:46 AM
Even kabair said it wouldn't have real fast speeds.

No he said he couldn't say you couldn't get faster speeds (Aka known as going faster than your 56k should allow.)

This is what he said.

Question 1- will ES5 introduce revolutionary speeds in downloading? what will be a typical speed, or at least a good speed for an ADSL user

****Their is no special revolutionary speeds. The speed you get is dependent on numerous factors, such as your provider, the internet lines to ES5 and back to you. Of course their are other factors. We can't promise you faster speeds and anyone that makes that promise is full of shit.

Basically what will limit your speed is what has always limits your speed. Connection type, Connection type of uploader, line conditions etc.

Its no different that any other P2P app.(Unless I'm missing something here.)

I've got a copy of their program and am testing it. So they really do have a program. I think that endersgame also got a copy and a couple of others. I didnt get mine from ES5.

I need some time to check if its a trojan. For now, it looks kinda cool. It looks from the front end a lot better than the fastrack type of program but I dont wanna comment until I have at least tested all major portions of the program.

One thing I would point out is that after closing it down, it didn't remove itself from processes on XP or 2k and had to be removed manually in taskman. Other than that, I didn't really notice anything too suspicious.

Also adds an entry called "EXCALIBUR" under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run

which is supposed to auto-launch the program minimized whenever u restart ur machine.

one thing i noticed was that after uninstalling, I rebooted my computer and there was an error message saying it couldn't find "tmp.bat" file from the earth station 5 folder. THen I just clicked ok and resumed normal activity. Nothing else

All beta testers will get a new version of Earthstationv on Saturday, March 8, 2003. Anyone that wants to help us beta test, contact ras@earthstationv.com. We need your help and welcome your comments if they are good or bad. That way we can always improve our program to the current standards that our users want.

We should also be streaming some good content on Saturday.

Thank you for waiting......

Hey Kabair: You never get back to us when we email you. Obviously your busy and got a lot on your mind but please dont build our hopes up if you have to much to do. I had to get my copy from the blackmarket after weeks of hearsay.

Anyway, the program looks very nice and in my opinion has a lot of potential. When will your forum work?

No it's just a joke, it could have been popes or pandas if they had made this spamware.

But I think it is interesting that it is ok to be able to be happy that the program is designed by / located in / protected by Palestinians because of the stereotype that they are a ruthless and dangerous band of nationless terrorists, but if you happen to mention that they blew up a bus or made a buggy program you might be racist
